Raiders Somehow Climb in NFL Power Rankings after Week 8 Loss

The Raiders lost again in Week 8, but they apparently played good enough to climb in their overall standing.

The Raiders suffered yet another heartbreaking loss in their Week 8 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. While the team played well, poor coaching decisions, and untimely turnovers would ultimately be the Raiders' demise.

Although the team did lose, they've managed to climb in the latest Week 9 power rankings from Bleacher Report. In this week's power rankings, the Raiders climbed one whole spot to No. 26 in the league.

"The Raiders are a bottom-tier team that will battle playoff-caliber opponents in a close matchup and find a way to lose in the final quarter." Said Moe Moton of Bleacher Report. "Under head coach Antonio Pierce, the Raiders seem to feed off the underdog role, but they're too flawed and lack the talent—partially because of injuries—to pull off upset wins."

While the team may have climbed for at least one week, it's evident as Moton pointed out the Raiders will find a way to lose. They are far from a playoff team and have no chance at making a Super Bowl in 2024.

The team will have to reassess this offseason and look toward the future in the 2025 NFL draft. This short climb from No. 27 to 26 won't last as the Raiders are set to face off against the No. 20 ranked Cincinnati Bengals.
