Raiders Starter From Last Season Listed as a Cut Candidate

Raiders RB1 Zamir White Is Built Like The Hulk After Throwing Hay

Last season, the Las Vegas Raiders gave the starting running back keys to Zamir White. He looked very impressive in relief of an injured Josh Jacobs in 2023, which likely played a role in why the team let the Pro Bowler walk.

However, it quickly became apparent that he wasn't ready to replace Jacobs on a full-time basis. He got hurt after four games and never regained his starting job outside of one game.

White averaged 2.8 yards per carry on the season. With the Raiders drafting Ashton Jeanty in the first round and signing Raheem Mostert in free agency, White has to be feeling some pressure.

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report listed every team's best player who could be cut this offseason, and he listed White for the Raiders.

"The Raiders looked like they may have a future starter in 2022 fourth-round pick Zamir White late in the 2023 season. In four starts to end that year, he tallied 397 combined rushing yards," Knox wrote.

"However, White struggled last season before landing on injured reserve with a quad injury. With rookie first-round pick Ashton Jeanty set to handle an every-down role—and free-agent addition Raheem Mostert behind him—White could be on the way out."

White only has a $1.2 million salary cap hit this season. He's very cheap if the Raiders decide to keep him. He proved in 2023 that he can be effective as a backup running back.

Jeanty is going to get a ton of carries, but White might still have some value as a backup, unless the Raiders like Mostert and Sincere McCormick more.
