By doing these three things, the Las Vegas Raiders can claw their way to a win in Week 6.
This Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders will look to get back to .500 for the third time this year. They'll do it at home, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Las Vegas is being labeled the underdog in this game, but by doing these three things, they can ensure a victory in Week 6.
Stop The Run
For the Raiders this year, this has been much easier said than done. However, if they manage to contain the Steelers' run game on Sunday, they'll have a great chance to win. Pittsburgh, led by offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, wants nothing more than to establish a ground game early this week.
If Las Vegas doesn't allow them to do that, Pittsburgh will have to turn to their passing attack, which has been very suspect this year. There's not a ton of talent at receiver, and the Steelers one star at the position, George Pickens, has had his name in the news for all the wrong reasons recently. If Las Vegas makes their offense one-dimensional, they can walk away with a win.
Establish The Run On Offense
Conversely, if the Raiders can establish their own running game, life will be much easier for their offense. Last week, Las Vegas was able to run the ball well early in the game, but they had to resort to the pass since they fell behind early in the second half.
This time around, they've got a quarterback making his first start, without a ton of talent at receiver. Davante Adams will miss the game this week, and Las Vegas' second option, Jakobi Meyers, is 'questionable'. If both of them can't play, Las Vegas will have to pray they can run the ball early and often.
Limit The Turnovers
This is the same message Antonio Pierce has made very clear to O'Connell this week. It matters more against this team than anybody else.
With a stagnant offense and an elite defense, the Steelers love to win games by simply making less mistakes than their opponents. If the Raiders can limit their own mistakes and play smart, it becomes much harder for the Steelers to beat them this week.
