Rangers Coach Makes Shocking Admission About His Future in New York

One could argue that no team in the NHL had a worse season than the New York Rangers.

It is true that other teams finished far below them in the standings, but most of those teams were expecting to be bad this year.

That was not the case in New York. The Rangers were expected to at least make the playoffs after they made the Eastern Conference finals last year.

Instead, they will finish in what many would consider the worst possible place in the standings, not good enough to be in the playoffs, but not bad enough to win the draft lottery.

In addition to the team being disappointing on the ice, there has been plenty of off-ice drama as well, highlighting just how dysfunctional the organization is.

Earlier today, Rangers defenseman Calvin De Haan called out the organization, putting them on blast for the way he was treated this season.

De Haan appeared in just three games for the team and put up great results, but was made a healthy scratch for the rest of the season anyways.

Now, Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette is feeling the pressure as his seat warms up going into the offseason.

Rangers reporter Mollie Walker revealed today that the veteran bench boss recognizes that the organization is going to evaluate his performance this year, and they may very well not be pleased.

Regardless of what happens next for Laviolette, it is clear that the Rangers have a lot of internal work to do.

Perhaps Chris Drury is not the general manager that will get them out of this mess as team ownership may have to look themselves in the mirror and start addressing the real problems plaguing the organization.
