“Real Housewives of Orange County” star Gina Kirschenheiter is expressing gratitude that her ex-husband, Matthew “Matt” Kirschenheiter, survived a heart attack.
In a March 17 Instagram upload, Gina Kirschenheiter shared she and her family “had a scary weekend” after her ex-husband, the father of her children, Nicholas, Sienna, and Luca, “suffered a heart attack” on March 15. She noted that Matt Kirschenheiter is “only 40 years old.”
In addition, she said she was thankful that Matt Kirschenheiter’s wife, Britt Kirschenheiter, “rushed him to the hospital and all the hospital staff acted quickly!!”
Gina Kirschenheiter also said her children “were very shaken up” by the situation. She said, however, “thankfully [they] can be smiling bc he will be okay!”
“He came home today. The kids and [my boyfriend Travis Mullen] and I are so happy to have their dad back. This was too close of a call. Really puts things in perspective. ❤️. We will all be changing our lifestyle and leaning into the healthy bc being there for our kids is the only thing that matters. ❤️,” continued Gina Kirschenheiter.
In addition, the RHOC star expressed gratitude “for everyone who has checked in on” her and her family.
“For anyone out there struggling to coparent, remember you are all a family and what matters most is that you all get to be there for your kids. Tomorrow is not promised, today is a gift ❤️,” concluded Gina Kirschenheiter in the Instagram post’s caption.
Several RHOC stars flocked to the post’s comments section to give Gina Kirschenheiter words of support.
“Oh no! So glad he is going to be ok,” wrote Vicki Gunvalson.
“Sending you guys big hugs! So happy to hear he is ok. I can’t imagine how scary,” added Jennifer Pedranti.
“Omg 😱 Gina! How scary. Thank God he is ok 🙏🏻,” shared Gretchen Rossi.
Britt Kirschenheiter, who wed her husband in 2024, also commented on the post, writing, “I think we’re all forever shook 🙏 ❤️.”
Gina Kirschenheiter Has Spoken About Successfully Co-Parenting Her Children With Her Ex-Husband
Gina Kirschenheiter divorced her ex-husband in 2019 after eight years of marriage. In a March 2024 interview on the “Got It From My Momma” podcast, the mother of three noted that she and Matt Kirschenheiter have been able to successfully co-parent their children, despite their past issues. She said that while “divorces are really hard,” she and her husband made their children’s well-being their priority.
“You have this responsibility to these children that you chose to bring into the world. They didn’t choose to come into the world. And you really have this opportunity to show them, ‘Look we really weren’t great at [marriage]. But we love you enough — we’re so great at this,'” said Gina Kirschenheiter during the interview.
While speaking to Bravo’s “The Daily Dish” in October 2024, Gina Kirschenheiter said she “couldn’t be happier and more proud of [her] co-parenting situation.”
“We’re just parents. You know what I mean? Like, we’re parents to our children. I’m a parent. Travis is a parent. Matt’s a parent. Britt’s a parent. It’s not even co-parenting, it’s just parenting. Our kids have four parents. We’re their family. They’re safe and happy with any of their four parents and that’s just our life,” said Gina Kirschenheiter to the publication.
