Game Recap

The Wild got things going first as they scored a power-play goal just seven minutes into the first to give their team a 1-0 lead. The goal was scored by Marco Rossi, who was waiting at the front of the net to knock in a rebound. Matt Boldy and Jared Spurgeon assisted him. That goal gave their team momentum, and they knocked a second one in just a few minutes later. Jakub Lauko tallied the Wild’s second goal as the puck snuck through under Talbot and gave them a two-goal lead. Devin Shore and Yakov Trenin assisted him to make it 2-0, and that was how the period ended.

The second period started out all Detroit Red Wings as they scored twice to tie the game up. Vladimir Tarasenko scored the first goal and he was assisted by Erik Gustafsson and Marco Kasper. The second goal was a one-timer from near the blue line that just beat Gustavsson. Simon Edvinsson recorded it, he was assisted by Alex DeBrincat and J.T. Compher to tie the game at 2. That score would hold through the period and the third started 2-2.

The Red Wings drew first blood in the third period as Edvinsson scored his second of the game that gave his team their first lead of the night. He was assisted by Albert Johnasson and Elmer Soderblom. That was the final goal of the night and the Red Wings took the win 3-2.

The Wild enjoyed one quick game at home before they head out on the road again. They’ll face the Utah Hockey Club in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Thursday night, Feb. 27. That will be the first game of a back-to-back on the road, and they’ll finish the month, the next night, Friday, Feb. 28 against the Colorado Avalanche. The Red Wings will be back at home to host the Columbus Blue Jackets also on Thursday, Feb. 27.
