REPORT: Kevin Stefanski Snaps at Rookie CB for Complaining About Camp Workload

Cleveland Browns announce 2023 coaching staff changes

The Cleveland Browns training camp is no walk in the park — and this summer, the sweltering heat and ruthless practice tempo have pushed some rookies to their limits. As the battle for roster spots heats up, frustration has started to surface.

That tension boiled over when one rookie defensive back admitted the jump from college to the NFL was “overwhelming,” questioning whether the grueling workload was sustainable. But Browns veterans weren’t about to let that slide.

That’s when Kevin Stefanski, now a cornerstone of Cleveland’s defense, stepped in — and lit a fire under the entire squad.

"You think this is college conditioning? Welcome to the fking NFL. You’re in Cleveland now — we don’t complain, we outwork everyone. If you’re tired, get stronger. If not, get out the damn way," Heyward roared in front of stunned teammates.

The rookie on the receiving end? Donte Kent, a seventh-round selection out of Central Michigan known for his 4.38 speed and potential as a slot corner and returner. Kent recently signed a four-year, $3.6 million deal and is fighting for a backup job.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski, a calm but firm presence, didn’t need to say a word. Coaches later praised Heyward’s leadership, crediting the moment with injecting urgency into a roster hungry to prove it belongs in the playoff conversation.

To his credit, Kent responded the right way — showing up the next day with intensity, earning praise for his effort and mental toughness.

Fans rallied behind Heyward’s hard-nosed message on social media, with one post going viral:
“That’s Browns football. You don’t whine — you win.”

As Stefanski’s team gears up for a defining season, one thing’s clear: toughness isn’t optional in Cleveland — it’s the foundation
