Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta may have only started airing a few weeks ago, but it’s been marred by controversy since last summer over the beef between Kenya Moore and newbie Brittany Eady. People have taken sides in the matter, and Cynthia Bailey recently revealed she hasn’t spoken to Kenya since that fateful day at the grand opening of her troubled hair spa.
As every RHOA watcher knows, the news broke last year that Kenya had seemingly shared revenge porn of Brit after feeling that the newbie threatened her with a gun. There have been rumors, but it’s still unclear what exactly Kenya displayed at the event. Still, it was bad enough for her to be suspended from filming and not to be called back for confessionals and the cast photos.
Recently, Cynthia sat down for an interview with Housewives Nightcap, where she discussed the issue between Kenya and Brit. She also shared a bit of shocking news when she admitted she has not spoken to the former Miss USA since that day last summer.
The model and actress said, “I have not spoken to Kenya since around the time that whole thing happened, and that’s really kind of a sad situation for me because I was there to just support her salon. I’m so proud of her. I know how hard she’s worked on it, and I was just so disappointed to see her vision be overshadowed by what happened at the salon, which you guys will see.”
“I feel like that should have been the focus because that was like her life dream, building the haircare empire, and I just wish she had called me before. I definitely would have been like, ‘This is your moment. This is beautiful,'” Cynthia continued.
Cynthia then said, “The entire event was amazing, but it just ended on a not-so-great note, and I let her know that because I just thought it was beneath her. You know, I hold my friends to a standard. Kenya is a woman of class, and I just felt like it was beneath her, and I am disappointed at how she responded.”
The interviewer then acknowledged that she could see true hurt in Cynthia’s face as she spoke about the unfortunate situation with Kenya. “It’s my least favorite question because this is someone that I do care about, and I have to respect her space. I have reached out. I reached out during that time. I texted, I called, and I respect if she needs a minute, and she knows that when she’s ready to talk to me, I’ll be right here,” Cynthia responded.
Cynthia went on, “Actually, when I watched the scene back, I forgot that I was actually emotional in that scene. I was like watching it, and I was mortified, obviously, with the rest of the cast. I just, I just didn’t like it. I just didn’t want that to be her moment. I didn’t, and when I was in the scene, I said, ‘You’re just better and bigger than this, and I just don’t want to be here, so I’m gonna leave, and I love you.'”
Cynthia also said, “I was literally there, and there were tears in my eyes because I just want the best for her. Like, I know what she’s capable of. She’s a great mom, and I see the vision for what she’s trying to do with Kenya Moore Haircare, and I was like, ‘No. This is not it.'”
Fans can see Cynthia in new episodes of RHOA on Sunday nights on Bravo.
