The NFL's annual MVP award has been dominated by quarterbacks for a decade, however, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley continues to make a solid case to change that.
Against the league's No. 1 run defense, Barkley ran 23 times for 107 yards and a touchdown as the Eagles picked up a 24-19 Week 13 road win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night.
And just as they were heard last week at SoFi Stadium in LA, "MVP" chants started once again as Barkley walked off the field at M&T Bank Stadium.
Barkley has now rushed for 100 yards in eight of 12 games while racking up a total of 1,499 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. Not to mention he's helped the Eagles secure eight straight wins.
Looking ahead, Barkley is on pace to reach over 2,000 rushing yards in 2024 with still five more games left to go. There's also a chance for him to break Eric Dickerson's 1984 single-season NFL rushing record of 2,105 yards.
And if we're being honest, Barkley should have no trouble reaching that number given the fact that the Eagles' schedule is a lot lighter from here on out after facing one of the toughest defenses in the NFL.
Barkley entered Week 13 with the third-best odds to win the NFL MVP award behind quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen.
But after the win over the Ravens, Barkley has now jumped Jackson across several sportsbooks.
Meanwhile, Allen and the Buffalo Bills (9-2) play the San Francisco 49ers (5-6) in primetime Sunday night. That means the MVP odds could shift even more in Barkley's favor pending how well Allen performs.
