Ahead of the release of her memoir “My Good Side,” Vanderpump Rules alum Scheana Shay spoke about her decision to mention her husband, Brock Davies’, affair during her pregnancy with their daughter, Summer. And with that, she also opened up about what was going through her mind during this very tough time.
“It really felt like I got my karma,” Shay told Us Weekly, referencing her past relationship with Eddie Cibrian, who was married at the time to Brandi Glanville. “Did I deserve for [Brock to cheat on me]? No, but I told myself that I did.”
It was a tough decision for Shay about whether to include this in the book, but in the end, she decided that this was all about her life and this was an unfortunate part of that.
“I went back and forth. It started as absolutely not. It was an eight-month conversation [with Brock],” Shay explained. “After several therapy sessions and really talking about it, we decided that this book would be inauthentic if we didn’t put it all in.
And she needed to show everyone that what she’s gone through has shaped her into the woman she is today.
“I have a voice, and I want to use it. I am extremely proud of the woman I’ve become,” she said. “I am not that 21-year-old girl chasing boys around clubs anymore.”
Will Scheana Shay and Brock Davies Have Another Child Together?
The news of Davies’ betrayal brought into question the status of their marriage. Shay even admitted to US Weekly that she was ready to leave.
“Had there been no kid or, honestly, had I found out when he did it … 100 percent, without a doubt, I would have left,” she said. “I’ve always been a person who said, ‘If I’m ever cheated on, I would leave.’ My ex-husband [Mike Shay] had an emotional affair, which honestly could be worse than physical, but this was such new territory for me to navigate.”
So, does she feel her relationship is healed?
“It takes work every single day. I will forever have insecurities. Just the other day, I saw him swipe and delete a text, and I’m like, ‘What was that?’ And he’s like, ‘Seriously, Scheana?’ But I genuinely believe he would never do anything like that again. I do trust him. I have forgiven him,” she explained. “We’ve put in the work in couples therapy. We have a very open line of communication. I want to show people that if you truly love someone, a mistake from their past doesn’t have to define the future of your relationship.”
And with that, the two are content being a family of three for right now.
“[Using a surrogate] is something that I’ve not fully come to terms with yet,” she told the outlet. “I felt [Summer] kick, I felt her hiccup, I breastfed her, and it’s going to be a very different experience this time. I worry that I might not have the same connection to the baby, but we are slowly taking steps in that direction.”
Scheana Shay Details One of the Hardest Parts To Write In Her New Book
Along with the cheating scandal, Shay opens up about other very tough times in her life. And one of those was when he daughter was born in 2021. She was suffering from “preeclampsia treatment with a magnesium drip, which led to Summer being born limp and blue,” US Weekly wrote.
“That was one of the more challenging parts of the book to write,” Shay said. “HELLP [Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes and Low Platelet count] syndrome can be fatal. It’s something most people don’t know about — I certainly didn’t until I was transferred to the high-risk ICU. When Summer was born and not making a sound, I was terrified. I thought she wasn’t going to make it. It was the scariest minute of my entire life.”
