Scheana Shay is sharing the most personal sides of her past—including new details about her romance with actor Eddie Cibrian—in her upcoming memoir, “My Good Side.”
The former “Vanderpump Rules” star dives into the highs and lows of her love life, offering never-before-heard details about her early 20s and the relationships that defined her.
The Truth About Eddie Cibrian & Jesse Metcalfe
In an excerpt published by Entertainment Weekly, Shay describes meeting Cibrian shortly after graduating college and moving to Los Angeles. “Our relationship wasn’t romantic from the jump, though the writing was on the wall from day one,” she wrote.
Shay later discovered that Cibrian was married, though she said she was unaware during the course of their relationship. “To be clear, Eddie wasn’t my boyfriend (at least not exclusively),” she wrote. “But we did start a physical relationship at the end of 2006, which was a weekly booty call.”
Their relationship eventually grew more serious, with Cibrian even meeting Shay’s mother and friends during a move. “His best friend also joined us with his son, who was a toddler at the time. We were literally intertwining our families and the people closest to us,” she recalled. “It really felt like we were building something.”
Still, Shay claimed she never suspected anything was off—especially since they spent time together in public. “Did I think it was weird that I never went to his house? No! He lived in Calabasas, supposedly. And I certainly wasn’t making the trek to Calabasas in 2007, when Ubers didn’t exist, and I had less than $1,000 to my name.”
Her illusion shattered when a lounge member told her Eddie was married. “I didn’t believe it (or maybe I didn’t want to believe it) because I was wild about Eddie,” she admitted. “Still, I was freaking out and had a massive pit in my stomach.”
When she confronted him, Cibrian allegedly denied everything. “It was gaslighting in its most basic form,” Shay wrote. “Yet, I trusted him, so we continued hanging out.”
In between that drama, Shay also briefly dated “Desperate Housewives” actor Jesse Metcalfe. Their romance included a movie premiere, her 22nd birthday, and dinners with his family. “Overall, Jesse and I had a great time together,” she wrote. “We would order in dinner with his parents at his house and — when we were alone — he would play me the guitar and serenade me with songs like ‘Hey There Delilah.’ It felt like I was living a real-life fantasy with this guy I’d watched on TV and in movies for years.”
