This past week, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady received approval from the rest of the NFL owners to become a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
His ownership not only added some extra rules that he has to follow as a broadcaster for Fox, but it also effectively ended his playing career. In the process of becoming an owner, Brady promised he would not unretire (again), according to CBS Sports.
While this means Brady can no longer pick apart defenses on the field, the report did reveal that Raiders owner Mark Davis will be seeking Brady's help in selecting the team's next quarterback. It's a move that could still end up breaking the hearts of other teams.
One prospect that had already been linked to the Raiders before the news, and now is someone that fans view as a near-lock to end up with Las Vegas, is Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Aside from being one of the best quarterbacks in the country, he trained with Brady back in 2020, which has only fueled the idea that he'll be a Raider even more.
On a recent episode of his podcast "2Legendary," Sanders discussed Brady's ownership with the Raiders and also hinted at what Brady's new role could lead to.
"I think it was a great decision, great thing for him," Sanders said. "He did everything he can on the field. So off the field he's I guess indulging in a lot of different things now. But they said he looking for a quarterback so we'll see.
The last sentence from Sanders certainly stands out, considering all of his ties to Brady and the Raiders.
Aside from training Sanders, Brady has not been shy about supporting the son of Deion Sanders.
Following Colorado's Week 1 win against No. 17 TCU last season, Sanders revealed that Brady texted him after the game with an encouraging message. Brady also offered some support for Sanders on social media after the quarterback said he went "Brady Mode" while helping Colorado beat Colorado State in double overtime in 2023.
Brady may be new to Las Vegas, but the interest from both parties in Sanders ending up a Raider is not. His father/coach (Deion Sanders) said at Big 12 media days that it would be "nice" for the third-year quarterback to end up in Las Vegas, and during Colorado's bye week, the Heisman candidate took a trip to Vegas to watch the Las Vegas Aces play in the WNBA playoffs.
While his interaction with Aces star A'ja Wilson turned a lot of heads, his conversation with Raiders owner Mark Davis was the one that went the most viral. Davis could be heard telling Sanders, "Who knows? You might be home right now."
It's still unclear where the Raiders will be drafting next year, but there are plenty of signs pointing to Brady and the Raiders calling on Sanders' name when the NFL draft rolls around.
