Shedeur Sanders Gets Good News About Possible Raiders Pairing

NFL Draft Rumors: Adam Schefter Drops Hint on Shedeur Sanders' Potential Landing Spot

The Las Vegas Raiders seemed to be out of the quarterback market in the 2025 NFL Draft once they traded for Geno Smith. However, Smith still hasn't gotten a new contract and the team may still be considering their options.

The Raiders hold the No. 6 pick in the draft, which could put them in a position to land a top quarterback prospect. According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, Las Vegas hasn't ruled out adding a quarterback early.

"Despite trading for Smith, the Raiders remain open to drafting a quarterback as early as the first round of the 2025 draft, according to league sources," Reed wrote in a Monday column.

With Cam Ward being the likely No. 1 pick, the Raiders' only option could be Colorado's Shedeur Sanders if they want to draft a quarterback in the first round. This is good news for him as there's been talk he could slip in the draft.

Sanders has also been flirting with the idea of joining the Raiders for over a year now. For him, it'd have to be an appealing landing spot. He'd be able to play for a high-end offensive coordinator in Chip Kelly and sit behind a veteran like Smith for a year.

It still feels like a long shot that the Raiders would use their No. 6 pick on a player they don't plan to play much in 2025 but if Smith doesn't agree to a new contract, the team could start planning for their future now.
