Shedeur Sanders Was Never Going to Win the Browns Starting QB Job in June - Athlon Sports

One of the biggest elephants in the Cleveland Browns QB room is how the group of four are going to stay on the final 53-man roster? While we don't know how everything will shake out, it's not the biggest concern in the minds of Browns front office personnel.

For fans, it's a little bit of a different thought process. Some have adopted a “they don’t want him to succeed” idea. Even if there were consorted efforts against Shedeur Sanders, it’s unlikely any of it came from within the Browns organization. There is no conspiracy theory here, but there is a process that must run its course.

Why he slid in the draft no longer matters. The Browns needing to find and secure an actual “franchise Quarterback” is so much stronger than the soap opera narrative to ‘keep Shedeur down’. But let's be real here. Sanders wasn't going to be named the starter in minicamp.

The shocking narrative that still lives is “Browns will trade Sanders before training camp”. Those last two flew out the proverbial window after Day 2 of rookie minicamp, three camps ago.

It’s understandable that Shedeur fans aren’t crazy about him going to Cleveland, a place where QBs have not thrived in this century. However, when was the last time an NFL team traded a drafted QB before training camp? The answer is you can’t think of one. Even if it’s wishful thinking, let that go. It’s not going to happen. Despite social and some actual media, the team has been impressed with Sanders.
