Should Chiefs Be Done Adding WRs For Patrick Mahomes?

The Kansas City Chiefs' offense in 2025 will look roughly the same as it did in 2024, with the franchise able to retain most of Patrick Mahomes' weapons.

Rashee Rice returns, while Juju Smith-Schuster and Marquise Brown were re-signed, and Xavier Worthy rounds out the receiving weapons for Mahomes, but behind them? Skyy Moore and Justyn Ross are the next "wave."

But what if the Chiefs looked for a savvy veteran ideally suited to playing a bit-part role?

We offer up free agent Tyler Lockett.

"A longtime model of consistency and durability in Seattle, the former Seahawks speedster is no spring chicken after a decade in the NFC West," CBS Sports writes. "In fact, he might be best suited in a No. 3-type role, working in tandem with fresher legs. But his instincts as a downfield ball tracker are still apparent."

Adding Lockett, who, despite his age, is still productive, totaling 600 yards and two touchdowns from 49 receptions last season with the Seahawks, could be a shrewd move.

Spotrac.com has his market value at $7.7 million APY, which might be a little steep for the Chiefs, but given that Lockett is still available, maybe Kansas City could swoop in with a cost-effective deal.

A proven veteran who thrives out of the slot, Lockett still possess decent speed and Mahomes, who did it with DeAndre Hopkins last season, doesn't take long to develop chemistry with veterans.

Yes, the Chiefs have a good first line of weapons, but adding a player of Lockett's caliber to come in and provide some relief could be a smart business move.

He's still a free agent for a reason, so why not add him to Mahomes' growing list of weapons?
