Shep Rose came to the defense of his longtime friend Craig Conover.
On April 1, the “Southern Charm” star spoke out on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast to defend his pal amid criticism that he wanted “housewife vibes” in his past partners, most notably ”Summer House” star Paige DeSorbo. In November, DeSorbo broke things off with Conover after three years of dating. and has since claimed that he was jealous of her career success.
In response to podcast host Amanda Hirsch’s “housewives vibes” comment, Rose said, “A lot of women would absolutely jump at that, right?”
“Or if a man or a woman in either scenario was like, ‘I’m going to be really busy, I’ll be traveling a lot.’ It’s perfectly natural to be like, ‘Well what does that mean for our relationship?’ That is like a conversation that’s happening all over the world at any given time, at any particular time,” he added.
Rose continued, “I don’t think Craig has a misogynistic bone in his entire body. I mean, he’s a traditionalist, but that’s not a crime, I don’t think.”
Shep Rose Said Paige Wasn’t Around A Lot During Filming
On the podcast, Rose claimed that DeSorbo, who lives in New York City, wasn’t around a lot during the three years she dated Conover and that she skipped cast trips and other events with her longtime beau. “I’m not the only one who felt that way,” he said. “That goes up and down the food chain with our show.”
Rose previously spoke out on the Southern Charm After Show to call out DeSorbo. “I think it’s total [expletive] that Paige didn’t go on one single trip while they were dating,” he said.
Over three seasons of “Southern Charm” on which she appeared, DeSorbo skipped cast trips to St. Simons Island, Jamaica, and most recently to the Bahamas, according to BravoTV.com.
“I couldn’t get away with that if I had a girlfriend, I’ll tell you that much,” Rose said. “Furthermore, she didn’t film with any of us. I don’t get it. And looking back, I really feel for Craig.”
Shep Rose Offered an Apology To Paige DeSorbo
While he has passionately defended his friend, Rose received backlash after calling DeSorbo’s “Giggly Squad” podcast and tour “stupid.”
On the After Show, he said, “That stupid [expletive] talk show? You get your [expletive], and you film with your boyfriend. It’s incomprehensible. “
Days later, he appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” and admitted he shouldn’t have phrased his opinion in such a way. “I’d like to kind of revise it a little bit. I mean, I am not against anyone’s success. Boy, that’s not who I am.”
“It just made me sad to see, like, Craig at the finale sitting at the bar in a tuxedo by himself,” Rose explained. “I was thinking, ‘I wish the girl that he was in love with was there to laugh and carry on.’ … And the same goes for the trips to the Caribbean. Like I’d have loved to get to know her.”
