Steelers’ Aaron Rodgers Delivers Clear Message to Terry Bradshaw After Criticism

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers responded to offseason criticism from Terry Bradshaw.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and FOX Sports analyst Terry Bradshaw was rather critical this offseason about the Steelers waiting on signing Aaron Rodgers. As it turns out, Bradshaw’s criticism was so loud, Rodgers heard it.

Aaron Rodgers

While speaking to NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt on Saturday, Rodgers responded to Bradshaw’s criticism and directly reply with a message to the four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

“I’ve known Terry for a long time being a part of FOX. Terry’s a legend. He’s an absolute legend,” Rodgers told Brandt, via Steelers Depot’s Ross McCorkle. “He won four Super Bowls. He’s had a legendary career in the media. But Terry, like a lot of people, doesn’t know me. And so he’s got an idea of what he thinks about me based on what I’ve done.

“I’d love to get to know Terry on a deeper level, and I feel like if he gave me a chance to get to know him, we’d have a good friendship.

“Because for me, I have nothing but the utmost respect and deference for what the greats have done. So, I’d love to get to know Terry on a deeper level if he’s open to it, and maybe we can go chew some bark, or whatever the hell he’s talking about together.”

The last comment was in reference to what Bradshaw told Rodgers to do this offseason instead of signing with the Steelers.

“That guy needs to stay in California,” Bradshaw said of Rodgers’ offseason spiritual practices and nontraditional practice habits. “Go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there.”

Aaron Rodgers Pushing Back Against ‘Bad Teammate’ Narrative

A lot was made in the media about Rodgers being a bad teammate before he signed with the Steelers. Since he elected to come to Pittsburgh, though, it seems as though the local media has tried to push the opposite narrative.

Rodgers has done a lot of pushing himself. He has told reporters this summer how much he is trying to help rookie quarterback Will Howard. Now with this Bradshaw comment, he’s extending an olive branch of sorts to one of the franchise’s best and most popular historic players.

Howard and other young teammates such as running back Evan Hull have convey how good of a teammate Rodgers has been early in training camp. That has dispelled the narrative that Rodgers arrived in Pittsburgh with in June.

That will only support the quarterback’s point that Bradshaw doesn’t really know Rodgers and should spend more time around the four-time MVP before saying anything else personally negative.
