Steph certainly misses his Splash Brother in Golden State.

The Golden State Warriors dominated the 2010s decade, making five consecutive NBA Finals from 2015 to 2019. During that historic run, the Dubs were led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, and they also had a well-rounded supporting cast that helped them along the way to multiple titles.

Without the Big 3 of Curry, Thompson, and Green, the Warriors would have never achieved the same level of success they did in the last decade. However, the trio was finally broken apart when Thompson left the Dubs to sign with the Dallas Mavericks earlier this offseason.

Curry opened up about life after his Splash Brother left the Warriors in a recent interview with Marc J. Spears of Andscape.

"It's still weird, man," Curry said. "I really haven't figured out the emotions yet just because it's one of those pieces that really won't sink in until you get into October and you go to the locker room and you're in your familiar sights and sounds of the Chase Center."

Curry cherishes his time with Thompson on Warriors

Steph and Klay were the Dubs' backcourt duo for 13 years. During that time, they won four NBA titles together while reaching six finals. Klay became like a brother to Steph. At the end of the day, Thompson was no longer the player he once was, and the Warriors decided to let their legend go. Curry also shared his honest views on Thompson's time in Golden State.

"What we were able to do for how long we were able to do it and together, it's special and it speaks to how hard it is to do that. So, I'm going to choose to celebrate all the things we accomplished and all the experiences we had instead of feeling any type of resentment or getting pissed off about it. It's still weird though."

If Curry, Thompson, and Green had retired together, it would have been a fairy tale ending for their Warriors legend. But as Steph mentioned, every good thing has to come to an end, and so did their partnership.

What's next for Thompson?

For years, Thompson maintained his reputation as one of the league's best shooters. However, fans saw a new, older version of Klay in the 2023-24 NBA season. He averaged his lowest points per game since his sophomore season.

Moreover, he shot below 40% from the 3-point line only for the second time in his career. Despite Thompson being on a decline, the Mavericks showed trust in the veteran guard.

Klay will most likely be the third scoring option on the Mavs behind the dynamic duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Considering that the Mavs are coming off an NBA Finals run, it will be an excellent opportunity for Thompson to win the fifth NBA Championship of his career.
