The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected six players in the 2025 NFL Draft, which is tied for the second-fewest number of players drafted by a team in the NFL.
This puts more emphasis on finding possible undrafted players that have a real shot of pushing for a roster spot, to get more out of the team's rookie class. The Buccaneers got lucky as they landed an undrafted player that no one expected to go undrafted.
Buccaneers land Texas center Jake Majors after he went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft
The Buccaneers landed Texas center Jake Majors as an undrafted free agent. Majors began his career at Texas in 2020 (The COVID season) and logged starts right away. By his sophomore year, he was a full-time starter for the Longhorns and started all 55 games he appeared in from 2021 to 2024. He arguably has been one of the best centers in college football during his time at Texas. He has only been credited with allowing two sacks and six QB hits in his entire career. Over the past two seasons, he wasn't credited with allowing a single sack and only allowed one QB hit.
With production like that at a prestigious program like Texas, Majors going undrafted seems truly puzzling. Though he excelled in the pass game, he has a lot to learn in terms of being an asset for an NFL run game. The most significant area he will have to work on early in his career is his overall strength, because he currently struggles to move defenders off their spots in the run game. His ability as a pass protector will excite some coaches in Tampa Bay and will give him a higher floor than your typical UDFA. He lacks positional versatility that teams typically look for when developing linemen, but his experience at center seems like a great git for the Buccaneers. They don't have a viable backup for Graham Barton at this time, and Majors would be able to step in right away and help the team's passing game in a pinch. As things stand today, I think Majors has a solid chance of making the Buccaneers' 53-man roster.
