“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp is sharing an update about her relationship with her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave.

During an April 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Mellencamp said Arroyave, the father of her three children, Dove, Slate, and Cruz, has been a source of support amid her battle with stage 4 cancer.

“Edwin has been great,” said Mellencamp to the publication.

She clarified that she and Arroyave are “still getting a divorce” following their October 2024 separation.

“We’ve put a hold on it. Like the last thing that I need is that stress. And it’s just we’re good parents together. We have a lot of laughs. I’ve had to say to him a couple times, ‘I’m going through this. And all I need for you, is to be my friend.’ Like that’s all I need,” said Mellencamp during the interview.

She also said that she is not sure if her estranged husband understands how heartbroken she is on behalf of their children. Mellencamp is also the stepmother to Arroyave’s eldest child, Isabella.

“I’m like ‘I don’t think you understand like the debilitating pain that I feel some days thinking about the fact that — my kids.’ That is extremely frightening. Like my kids are young,” said Mellencamp to the publication.

Teddi Mellencamp Said Her Dynamic With Edwin Arroyave Improved After She Underwent Emergency Brain Surgery

Mellencamp underwent emergency surgery to remove brain tumors in February 2025. She currently has several tumors in her brain and her lungs, caused by metastatic melanoma.

During an Us Weekly interview, published on April 2, Mellencamp said her dynamic with Arroyave improved after her February 2025 brain surgery.

“We’ve always made each other laugh. We always pushed each other’s buttons, and [that made] it fun. And us not being able to have that for a long time was really sad and hard. If any part of this was for a reason, the second that I got sick, he completely changed. It’s a silver lining,” said Mellencamp during the Us Weekly interview. “He’s been there for me a hundred percent, he’s been there for the kids, and we’re back to laughing. We call it the ‘Divorce Chronicles.’ And I want to talk [to him] about the kind of girls [he’s] going to marry… because if these people are going to take care of my kids, this is what I want, and this is the definition of what I don’t want.”

Mellencamp also shared what led her and Arroyave to separate.

“I think we didn’t communicate exactly what we needed. When that happens over time, you start to lose what you were happiest with,” said Mellencamp.
