“Teen Mom” personality Vee Rivera bravely opened up about experiencing grief.
In an Instagram video, uploaded on January 25, Rivera shared that she was mourning the deaths of her aunt and cousin. The clip showed Rivera getting ready for the day. In a voiceover, she explained that she has been experiencing different stages of grief.
“I’ve had my aunt and my cousin, her son, pass away and this all happened in a span of seven months. And I don’t even know what to do with myself at this point,” said Rivera in her voiceover. “I’ve gone through so many different stages. I felt so sad and depressed. I felt regret. And now I think I’m just at that angry stage when you just start saying, ‘Why? Why did this happen to our family?'”
Rivera also said she wishes she had called and texted her late family members more.
“I should have said, ‘I love you’ more. We get so caught up in our own [expletive] and just our own day-to-day life, that sometimes it’s hard to reach out,” said Rivera in her Instagram video. “Sometimes it’s hard to be there for your family and your friends.”
In addition, she said she will be making the effort to spend time with her loved ones more.
“You just never know when your last day on this earth is. And we are not promised a tomorrow,” said Rivera.
She also said that her “heart is with” those who are also grieving.
Several fans flocked to the post’s comments section to share they appreciated Rivera’s Instagram post.
“Inspiring! You got this babe, sending you lots of love during this difficult time!” wrote a commenter.
“Thanks for this I’ve been grieving for almost 3 years for my mother. You’re just never the same once you lose your precious mother 💔,” added another.
“Thanks vee🙏. I really needed to hear this. You are Amazing & Beautiful ❤️,” shared a different person.
Vee Rivera Says She Won’t Return to the ‘Teen Mom’ Franchise
In an exclusive interview with EntertainmentNOW in December 2024, Rivera, who is married to Kailyn Lowry‘s ex-boyfriend, Jo Rivera, said she would not be returning to the “Teen Mom” franchise. She said she believed her life simply was not dramatic enough for the MTV show.
“I feel like reality TV just is not for me. I also feel like I’m pretty boring. Like I’m just not reality TV made — I think they love drama. The most drama I have is, like, trying not to spend $300 at Target,” said Rivera during the interview.
