Teen Mom star Cory Wharton is breaking his silence on how MTV held him hostage, and how he handled it. He is known as Cheyenne Floyd’s ex and a participant in The Challenge. So, what did the network do to keep him from living his life? Keep reading for more details.
For several years, Cory Wharton has been an MTV staple, bouncing between hit shows. He appeared on The Challenge, Ex On The Beach, and Teen Mom. Several months back, he shared that the latter was likely no more, given that they did not have a filming schedule. A fellow cast member chimed in that the show was done, which was a major blow to diehard fans who had been with the series for years. Recently, Cory was a hot topic in the news over a possible split from his longtime love, Taylor Selfridge.
Now, Cory is spilling the tea on how MTV held him hostage from an incredible opportunity. Allegedly, he was asked to be on Season 1 of Peacock’s hit series, The Traitors. He was just two days from leaving when MTV phoned Cory and gave him an ultimatum. They said if he liked the two jobs he had at the network, he would not go on The Traitors. At the time, the father of three was very active in The Challenge and Teen Mom. Therefore, it seemed to be the better choice since he would be working consistently.
However, Cory did send a message to MTV when he first got the show, and let them know why he was doing it. He explained that his daughter was getting open heart surgery, so this would help financially. Furthermore, he believed he was kind enough to even inform MTV of his filming plans and whereabouts. Yet, MTV felt that The Traitors was The Challenge’s competition despite it only being the first US season. He has expressed that he would definitely be open to joining a future season, especially after the success his Challenge co-stars had.
Despite risking his jobs at MTV, should Cory Wharton have gone off to do The Traitors? This would have been an opportunity of a lifetime, and he could have had more chances than one season. Dorinda Medley of RHONY fame was on Season 3, but was killed off in episode one. Now, she is back for Season 4, so that could have been the fate for the Teen Mom star. Fans who saw Cory’s clip believed MTV made a vital mistake by not allowing him to go:
Some wondered if he was really asked to be on The Traitors because they could not see his appeal. However, they did think that he would be a good player because he stays under the radar. Finally, others believed that Cory should be grateful that he had Teen Mom and The Challenge, so no need to complain.
