Leah Messer is facing one of her toughest battles yet, and it’s not just on-screen. The reality star is grappling with the fallout from her contentious legal issues with ex-husband Jeremy Calvert, and it’s taking a toll on her youngest daughter, Addie.
In an exclusive preview of this Thursday’s episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Leah shares her concerns with her sister, Victoria Messer, revealing that Addie has been caught in the middle of the conflict between her parents.
Teen Mom fans are still outraged by how Chelsea DeBoer treated someone close to her years later.
Jeremy Allegedly Harassed Leah At Work
In November, Leah's workplace became a scene of distress when police were called due to allegations that Jeremy was harassing Leah. Following this incident, Leah sought a protective order against her ex-husband, with whom she was married from 2012 to 2015.
During a check-in with Victoria amid these trying circumstances, Victoria inquires about any recent changes in the custody arrangement for Addie and her father.
Leah responds, "We're doing all pass-offs between me and Jeremy's mom ... every other weekend," and adds, "And she goes to Jeremy's when he's in town, which he's not really ever in town 'cause he moved to Pennsylvania."
Leah admits, "Ever since the situation with Jeremy happened, Addie has been struggling," noting that initially, Addie was "angry" and directed her frustration toward Leah, but this eventually gave way to sadness.
Victoria speculates about the emotional impact of not being around Leah, wondering, "Who knows what she's endured or heard [while] not around you." Leah then acknowledges, "I probably would've never went out of my way to make sure she's seen her grandparents if I'd known that stuff was being said ... that I'm being called a c—, a b—."
Leah has also observed that Addie frequently asks to join her older sisters, Aliannah and Aleeah, both 14, when they visit their father, Corey Simms. Leah explains, "When they leave, she becomes an only child and she gets bored. But there's more to it," adding that Addie likely feels left out seeing her sisters visit Corey regularly.
Leah Says Addie Feels Her Father’s Absence

Leah highlights the contrast between her ex-husbands, noting that Corey is actively involved in their daughters' lives and attends events regularly. In sharp contrast, Jeremy has allegedly been absent from significant events for Addie since she was in third grade, which Leah feels deeply affects her daughter as she now navigates fifth grade.
Victoria empathizes with Addie's emotional turmoil, suggesting she might be questioning her father’s love and feeling a mix of emotions she’s unable to process. Leah agrees and believes that seeing a counselor could help Addie develop "healthy coping mechanisms" during this challenging period.
Victoria concurs, stating, "The stuff that Addie is going through, Addie needs to go through it. She needs to face the sadness and the anger in order to get in a good place."
Leah first gained national attention as one of the original stars of MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009, which led to her ongoing role on Teen Mom 2, starting in 2011. Her journey on reality television has been marked by both personal triumphs and challenges, including her high-profile relationships.

Chris Lopez's recent shade at Elijah Scott fuels ongoing drama with Kailyn Lowry, proving her life’s still a captivating spectacle.
Leah was married to Corey Simms from 2010 to 2011, with whom she shares twin daughters, Aliannah and Aleeah, born in 2009. Following her marriage to Corey, Leah was married to Jeremy Calvert from 2012 to 2015, with whom she shares her youngest daughter, Addie, born in 2013.
As Leah navigates these family dynamics, viewers will have to stay tuned to Teen Mom: The Next Chapter to see how her ongoing legal struggles with Jeremy continue to affect Addie and the family’s overall stability.
