During a January 26 interview with Access Hollywood, alongside her “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” co-stars Catelynn Baltierra and Leah Messer, Bookout complimented Edwards, the father of her 16-year-old son, Bentley, for deciding to get sober. Edwards, who is currently expecting his 4th child with his fiancee Amanda Conner, has been open about his past issues with substance abuse.
“It’s amazing. It’s just so nice to see him be who he was always meant to be. And enjoying life. And gaining his confidence and his belief in himself. And just to see him to know that he’s good enough and know that he deserves this. It’s been amazing,” said Bookout during the Access Hollywood interview.
While speaking to Access Hollywood, Bookout noted that her and Edwards’ son is now the age she was when she got pregnant. She said that Bentley turning 16 is “definitely surreal.”
“It does definitely feel like a full circle moment,” said Bookout during the Access Hollywood interview.
Maci Bookout Discussed Co-Parenting With Ryan Edwards in an April 2024 Interview
During an April 2024 interview with Us Weekly, Bookout spoke about co-parenting with Edwards. She said that he and Bentley “are in a really good place” after having a somewhat rocky relationship.
“I’m still very, very hopeful every day. But I will also say that over the last year, I think expectations have changed a little bit too. He’s doing really well,” said Bookout during the interview.
She also told Us Weekly that she believed Bentley has an easier time bonding with Edwards because of his positive relationship with his stepfather, Taylor Mckinney.
“I feel like Bentley especially wouldn’t have had the courage to really keep pursuing and stay hopeful in certain situations, but I think Taylor provides that constant for Bentley and for me,” said Bookout to Us Weekly.
In a January 2025 interview with In Touch, Bookout said that Edwards’ relationship with Conner has improved his dynamic with his eldest son.
“I don’t think that he has ever been able to actually witness his dad be in real true love and be, you know, taken care of and respected and loved. And to also see his dad be able to give that back. So I love them together,” said Bookout to In Touch.
Bookout will appear in the third season of “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter,” which premieres on January 30.
