Teen Mom’s Kailyn Lowry Reveals She Had Breast Reduction Surgery, Shares Recovery Update
Teen Mom alum Kailyn Lowry revealed that she had breast reduction surgery and shared an update about her recovery process.
Kailyn, 32, recently took to her Instagram Stories to share a photo of herself wearing a supportive bra as she flashed a peace sign toward the camera, according to The U.S. Sun. In addition to sharing the photo, the mother of seven revealed that she went under the knife earlier in December.
“4 days post op,” she captioned the post, which also included a poll in which she asked her fans, “Do you want breast reduction videos?”
Kailyn revealed she had breast reduction surgery just six months after she opened up about facing an obstacle for the procedure during the May 17 episode of her “Barely Famous” podcast. At the time, the MTV personality explained that she was told she needed to lose 50 pounds before she could have the procedure during a plastic surgery consultation phone call.
“I want to get a boob job, right? I call around. I’m making these consultations to get a boob job. You know what they told me? They told me I need to lose 40 pounds,” she shared at the time. “So 40 or 50 pounds, more like 50, but maybe get away with 40 pounds, before they can even operate on me.”
After recalling the conversation, Kailyn said that the experience was “extremely humbling” for her. “I’ve been wanting to do this breast reduction, implants, lift, whatever it is,” she said. “[The doctor] was like, ‘Do you still want to schedule this?’ I’m literally sobbing. Already the water works have started.”
Just days after the podcast episode was released, Kailyn clarified the conversation by explaining she was told that her “BMI is entirely too high to operate.” She continued in a post shared via her Instagram Stories, “So when I did the math it comes down to needing to lose between 40-50 pounds.”
Not only has Kailyn been open about her plastic surgery journey and weight loss struggles, but she also has been candid about what it’s like to share custody of her children.
She welcomed twins Verse and Valley in 2023 and son Rio in 2022 with fiancé Elijah Scott, while she also shares son Isaac, 14, with ex Jo Rivera, son Lincoln, 11, with ex-husband Javi Marroquin, and sons Lux, 7, and Creed, 4, with ex Chris Lopez.
While discussing her plans for the latest holiday season, Kailyn admitted that she doesn’t “do holidays” with her children. “All my kids go to their dads, and they have big families over there and they love their kids. I’m happy to send them to their dads for the holidays,” she told E! News on November 19.
Kailyn revealed her stance on the holidays just four years after she explained she did not plan to celebrate Christmas with her large family during a 2020 episode of her “Coffee Convos” podcast.
“We’re not doing anything. Like, I’m just not gonna have them so they don’t have to get each other stuff,” she told her cohost, Lindsie Chrisley, at the time. “I might ask them do they want to get each other anything for Christmas, and if they say yes, then I would just obviously facilitate that. They’re gonna be with their dads, I’m pretty sure, until the end of Christmas Day, so I feel like maybe by then it would be over but also I don’t know. It might be kind of nice to give each other something, so maybe we’ll see.”
