"Dancing with the Stars” pro dancer Derek Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert Hough, had some big news to announce on Tuesday, July 22: they are expecting a child! The couple announced their pregnancy in a joint Instagram post, revealing it in a beautiful video.
Fans have reacted to the news with great excitement, and the couple’s “Dancing with the Stars” family has shown the pair love in a big way. The comment section of the video has been flooded with messages of congratulations and expressions of love.

One of the top reactions is from professional dancer and Derek’s BFF, Mark Ballas. “Baby Hough is not even ready for Uncle Mark, Auntie BC + Cousin Banksi play dates about to go TOO HARD,” he wrote. Ballas and his wife, BC Jean, are parents to one child, their son, Banksi. So, when baby Hough is born, they will already have a lot of people to love them and to play with!
Ballas was so excited he commented two more times, once to say he was crying, using the crying face emojis, and another time to write, “YAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY I am so happy for you both.”
DWTS pro Britt Stewart also reacted to the news. “Truly no words can match this blessing!!!! Auntie Britt is ready! Love you both so much,” she wrote.
Shirley Ballas commented with a sweet message, writing, “This is the best news ever. A huge congratulations from nanny and I. @derekhough @hayley.erbert miracles are beautiful just like you both.”
Jenna Johnson also reacted. She wrote, “OMGGGG!!!! Baby Hough. Cannot wait to meet you!!!!!! Congratulations mama.” And fellow DWTS pro Gleb Savchenko wrote, “That’s amazing congratulations,” followed by four red heart emojis.
Hayley & Derek Hough Share Baby Announcement in the Best Way
The way the Hough baby announcement was made was so thoughtful and beautiful. The video showed the couple walking toward each other from two opposite ends. When they meet, they hug, and the camera pans over to their sonogram pictures. “We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small,” they captioned the post.
The news comes almost two years after the couple got married in August 2023 and is something that the DWTS pro had previously discussed. “We definitely want to have a family eventually,” he told E! News in September 2024. “We’ll see what’s in the cards, what’s on the horizon. Little dancing children running around.”
