The Bachelor Season 29 Starring Grant Ellis Will Be A Success Because The Producers Finally Fixed This Mistake
The Bachelor season 29 starring Grant Ellis will be a success because the producers finally fixed their mistake and announced that he was the lead as women were applying for the show, so that there was no surprise about him being the Bachelor. Grant, a now-31-year-old former professional basketball player and day trader who's originally from Newark, New Jersey, got his Bachelor Nation start on Jenn Tran's Bachelorette season. They formed a deep connection, but Jenn said goodbye to him right before her hometown dates.
Now Grant has happily accepted the lead role of The Bachelor season 29. He was the perfect choice to be the star of the series because his main goal in life is to be a husband and a father. This will most likely make him a successful Bachelor, but the main thing that separates his season from past failed ones is that his contestants knew that he was the lead before they signed up for the show. Hopefully, this will make Grant's Bachelor season a success.
Grant Ellis' Contestants Knew He Was The Bachelor When They Applied
Grant Was Announced Much Earlier Than Previous Bachelors
For many years, the next lead of The Bachelor was announced during The Bachelorette finale in the "After the Final Rose" portion of the episode. The next lead is one of the most-anticipated parts of the finale. However, Grant was announced as the lead online right after he was eliminated from Jenn's Bachelorette season.
In an X post, ABC executive Robert Mills explained why Grant's Bachelor announcement came so much earlier than other recent leads. He wrote, "We are announcing Grant so quickly so people can still apply to be on his season. If you think Grant is potentially the man of your dreams or you know someone who is apply ASAP!!! #TheBachelor."
This is a very important change for the Bachelor franchise because Grant could now be certain that the women who signed up to be on the show were there for him. They didn't have any expectations that the Bachelor would've been someone else because they knew that he was the lead when they applied. In fact, during Jenn's "Men Tell All" episode, host Jesse Palmer told Grant that over 10,000 new women had applied to be on his season since he was announced as the lead, and the number was continuing to grow.
This fixed the past mistake in which the contestants didn't know who the Bachelor or the Bachelorette was until they stepped out of the limousines. Because of that, inevitably, some were sad to see that the person that they hoped for wasn't there. It's fantastic that this won't happen to Grant.
There Won’t Be Any Disappointment With The Bachelor Lead
The Producers Learned From Their Mistakes With Jenn Tran's Bachelorette Season
One of the problems that plagued Jenn's Bachelorette season was the fact that no one expected her to be the lead of the show. Her announcement was a welcome surprise at the end of Joey Graziadei's Bachelor season, especially because she was the first-ever Asian American Bachelor franchise lead. However, many people thought that Joey'srunner-up Daisy Kent or fan favorite Maria Georgas were the frontrunners to be the next Bachelorette.
After both Daisy and Maria revealed that they'd turned down The Bachelorette season 21, Jenn appeared to be the producers' third choice for the role. Jenn denied that this was true, and stated that all three of them were in the running from the beginning, but the damage was done. Jenn and Maria's friendship even ended over this issue. The problem was further highlighted on the show when Jenn's suitor, Sam McKinney, confessed to her that he didn't expect her to be the Bachelorette.
When Jenn asked Sam what his first impression of her was, he answered, "It's a testament to this process that I almost didn't even come here." He added that, when he got out of the limousine, he thought, "This girl is not my type. I thought the Bachelorette was gonna be Daisy or Maria." Sam's fellow Bachelorette contestants, who were watching the conversation from afar, were shocked by Sam's comments. Grant even said that it was "weird" that he told Jenn that.
Thankfully, Grant didn't have to worry that his contestants were expecting someone else when they stepped out of the limousine. They signed up for the show specifically to date him. Because the producers finally fixed this mistake, Grant has a much better chance of having a successful season. This, combined with his desire to be a husband and a father, will help him to achieve his goal of finding true love. Hopefully, Grant will find the love of his life on The Bachelor season 29, and they'll live happily ever after.
The Bachelor season 29 starring Grant Ellis premieres on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
