“The Chemistry Was Instant”: DWTS’ Robert Irwin Turns Heads During Practice Run with Mystery Pop Star Partner

Robert Irwin may be heading to the Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) ballroom this season, but his first unofficial “practice run” just occurred in the wild. During a recent visit to Australia Zoo, pop superstar Katy Perry met up with the 21-year-old conservationist and DWTS contestant for a wildlife encounter.

However, it wasn’t just the koalas and crocs that had fans buzzing. The two surprised everyone with an impromptu waltz, and let’s say, it was more of an awkward shuffle than a graceful spin in the best possible way.

Robert did his best to dip Katy with charm and a camera-ready smile, but an accidental slip made the moment even more memorable. Always the good sport, Katy laughed it off, quipping that maybe he should stick to animals for now.

Fans couldn’t get enough of the chemistry between the two. One wrote, “The body language is speaking for us all!” while another joked, “Katy out here being a cougar for Robert to tame."

A Fun Start to Robert’s 'DWTS' Journey

Robert, the son of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, was recently announced as a contestant on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, premiering this September. Like his dad, he’s known for his infectious energy and deep love for wildlife, and he’s already charming audiences before even setting foot in the ballroom.

And if this zoo-side dance is any sign, his DWTS debut will be just as fun, lighthearted, and full of surprises. As for Katy, the unbothered queen of quirky moments, she left the zoo in great spirits and with a few fabulous animal selfies.
