Brittany Cartwright excitedly announced that she would be following in estranged husband Jax Taylor‘s footsteps by opening a new bar in Los Angeles back in 2024. But after months of planning for what was supposed to be a March opening, her deal has fallen through.
Ahead of the highly anticipated premiere of The Valley season two next week, it has been confirmed that Britt’s WeHo, which was expected to open off Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, just steps away from TomTom, which is owned by her former Vanderpump Rules castmates, Lisa Vanderpump, 64, Tom Sandoval, 42, and Tom Schwartz, 42, has been sold.
As noted in a new report, new management is now in place at what was supposed to be Brittany’s new spot.
“Britt’s WeHo was never part of the deal with a new team taking over and they do not have any plans to open it in the future,” an insider told The U.S. Sun on April 4. “The deal was terminated before they were involved at all. It wasn’t their call and had nothing to do with Brittany.”
“Unfortunately, she just got caught in the crosshairs of a business decision,” the source added.
While it is unclear if Brittany is considering another location, Jax’s bar, Jax’s Studio City, is located alongside Rocco’s, which has other locations in Pasadena, Culver City, and Westwood.
As fans will recall, Brittany first announced she would be opening her own place last year on her podcast, When Reality Hits With Jax & Brittany.
“I’m gonna have my own bar in West Hollywood right across from where I started, near SUR,” she revealed. “TomTom is three doors down from me…it’s in the best location ever. I cannot wait! I just hope everybody loves it. We’re going to start construction, and I’m just so excited.”
She then offered an update in early February, saying, “I am still opening my restaurant. I’m so excited!”
“Britt’s WeHo will be opening soon, hoping like late March-ish. I know we said October, but it’s just taking a little bit longer to get off the ground because we go in and we’re trying to redo everything,” she continued. “Things have been pushed back just a little bit, but everything is ordered. Things are coming in. We’re getting ready to start working on everything.”
Now, just weeks later, Brittany has opened up to her listeners about the space being sold.
“They sold Rocco’s, which was what Brits was connected to. And you know, it’s all part of the same thing. The partners straight up sold it, didn’t tell me that they were going to sell it … didn’t communicate with me whatsoever,” she shared on the April 4 episode of When Reality Hits, via Entertainment Now. “We had already, you know, completely decorated everything, like ordered everything, the wallpaper, the, the new like stuff we were going to put in. New seating, we ordered new chandeliers. We ordered everything on January 7th. So, I thought that it was happening up until like this week. They told me that it got sold. And I am pretty upset about it because I wasn’t a part of the conversation.”
According to Brittany, the owners of the location where her bar was set to open took a “hit” amid the wildfires in January.
“I understand it’s their decision, whatever they want to do. I was honored to be asked to do it anyway,” she added.
As for the future, Brittany confirmed that there may be other opportunities with the owners.
“I’m not sure that I want to,” she admitted. “I have so many amazing things coming up, and I’m going to have so many other opportunities. And you know, I’m grateful that they wanted to do that with me that, but you know, I’m kind of hurt by how it went down. We’ll see what happens in the future. …Maybe it was a blessing in disguise.”
The Valley season two premieres on Tuesday, April 15, at 9/8c on Bravo.
