Summer House Season 9 has highlighted the tensions in relationships new, old, and never-quite-defined — and the situationship between Jesse Solomon and Summer House newcomer Lexi Wood definitely qualifies as two of those.
In Season 9, Episode 10, the tension that's been brewing between the two came to a head in a heated conversation they tried to have off-camera.
Here's what happened: Right as a group night out came to a close, Jesse and Lexi arrived back at the house in a cab. One of them pulled the other aside to have a conversation they definitely wanted to be done with before heading inside. What they probably didn't realize at the time is that microphones would capture most of it — even at 1:30 a.m.
Why were Jesse Solomon and Lexi Wood arguing?
The disagreement wasn't over Lexi or Jesse, but a secret third thing: Jesse's Summer House roommate West Wilson. Specifically, how Jesse interpreted Lexi's behavior with West at the club.
Jesse can be heard saying, "You just can't come up with anything that I did" (besides the toe incident that happened when Lexi spent a weekend away from the house).
"That's way less intense than everything I saw tonight," he added.
Lexi responded, "I was holding West up" but not "flirting with him" at the club.
Jesse complained that West and Lexi were "hanging out all night" together, regardless.
"You know how I am about that," cameras heard him say to Lexi.
"And you know how I am!" she retorted.
"I do," Jesse replied, adding, "I love that about you."
When the duo emerged from behind the car, they headed into the house together, continuing the conversation from bed. It seems like the drama was put to sleep — for the most part, anyway.
Jesse and Lexi's relationship drama, explained
Jesse and Lexi met in the Summer House Season 9 premiere, and hit it off immediately.
But Lexi made it clear early on that she prefers monogamous relationships and has expectations of her romantic partners — especially in terms of their public behavior.
Throughout Season 9, Jesse has questioned whether he wants to tone down his flirtatious nature to please Lexi, but while viewers have seen Lexi's self-described "jealous" side, this was the first time Jesse was caught admitting to his.
In a confessional shown after the driveway talk, Lexi explained that their disagreement began on the way home. Per Lexi, Jesse claimed that how she acted with West was "way worse" than so-called toe-gate, which astonished her.
"West was drunk," she explained, "I was holding [Jesse's] best friend upright!"
