The Only Four Time Heavyweight Champion Says He Is Unquestionably Greater Than Muhammad Ali

Underestimating Muhammad Ali was the mistake of a lifetime, George Foreman says - Los Angeles Times

Known simply by his alias ‘The Greatest’, Ali remains one of the most influential figures in boxing history, as well as being arguably the greatest fighter to have ever laced up the gloves.

After capturing an Olympic gold medal back in 1960, Ali began what would go on to be an incredible professional career which saw him win the world heavyweight championship on three occasions, the first of which coming in that famous victory against Sonny Liston in 1964.

Perhaps the most memorable win of his tenure came against ‘Big’ George Foreman in 1974, who he defeated via eight round stoppage to regain the heavyweight championship, in a fight that boxing fans know more commonly as ‘The Rumble In The Jungle’.

Despite his outstanding accomplishments, paired with his technical brilliance, there is one fighter who believes he deserves to be regarded as a better fighter than Ali.

Four-time world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield explained to Seconds Out why he thinks he is the greatest heavyweight of all time ahead of ‘The Greatest’ himself.

“I’m the only four-time heavyweight champion of the world but they are still talking about Ali when I broke his record. I’ve been the only four-time heavyweight champion of the world for 24 years.

You can’t talk about it until you break someone’s record, they don’t say nothing about me. How do you cut somebody out of history? Now I didn’t even know I was the first person to be undisputed in two weight divisions, until Usyk did it.

They keep saying Ali is the best fighter, no I am. He was three times, I’m four.”

‘The Real Deal’ also made history by becoming the first fighter in boxing history to win the undisputed championship at cruiserweight and heavyweight, but that record was later matched by Ukrainian star Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated Tyson Fury to unify all four of the world heavyweight titles last May.
