Michael Jordan is one of the most legendary sports figures in the whole world. His incredible performances on the court with the Chicago Bulls make him claim the title of best player ever to many.
Off the court he liked to have a good time, he still does. He is well known for attending casinos and gambling, playing poker and more, and he usually finished on top every time. Except for this one time.
When it comes to finding former players who can boast that they humiliated Michael Jordan, there are few, very few who can step forward. This time, it wasn't a former NBA basketball player, it was the GOAT of another sport who left MJ in a bad light with a $100 tip in Las Vegas.
Jordan decided to go have a good time in Sin City and at a private table he started playing poker against none other than Wayne Gretzky, a former hockey player who won four Stanley Cups. Apparently, MJ's opponent was having a good time because he did not hesitate to humiliate 'Air' with an epic lesson.
The person in charge of revealing this curious story about Michael Jordan was a first-hand witness. In 2010, Rich Strafella, former vice president of the Hard Rock hotel in Las Vegas, told the Urban Daddy portal the best anecdote he had with a celebrity.
How did one GOAT humiliated the other GOAT?
Michael Jordan decided to order a drink. The waitress, very attentive, soon brought it to the NBA legend and MJ decided to give her a casino coin that represented $5 dollars.
Wayne Gretzk was not having it so he decided to take matter into his own hands.
"I remember one night when Wayne Gretzky insulted Michael Jordan at the table. It was a private parlor game. Michael had ordered a drink from the cocktail waitress and gave her a five-dollar piece. Wayne took it off the cocktail waitress's tray, handed it back to Michael, took a hundred-dollar chip from Michael's stack, and put it on the cocktail waitress's tray. Then he said, 'This is how we tip in Vegas, Michael,'" Rich Strafella said.
One can only imagine Michael Jordans face when that happen but it seems to have helped him change the way hi tipped from that moment on.
