Jax Taylor was involved in a car accident on Wednesday that resulted in claims of a hit and run.
As a woman named Michelle West threatened legal action against him, claiming her boyfriend sustained “pretty bad” injuries after The Valley cast member rear-ended his Subaru WRX with his Chevrolet Silverado, Jax, 45, admitted to the fender-bender but insisted he fled the scene only because there were no injuries or damage to the vehicles involved.
In a video of the aftermath of the accident shared by TMZ, Jax and the unnamed man were seen looking over their vehicles, which didn’t appear to have sustained much damage, and having a brief chat before Jax left the scene.
Following the accident, and claims of Jax refusing to exchange information, the reality star’s rep released a statement to TMZ.
“Jax was involved in what he believed to be a minor fender bender yesterday afternoon when his vehicle bumped into the rear end of the car in front of him while at a red light. The driver immediately stepped out of his vehicle, enraged which caused an unpleasant interaction between both parties,” the rep explained. “Jax saw no visible damage to either vehicle and no apparent injuries to either involved, and therefore proceeded to leave the scene. Since this altercation, Jax has filed a claim with his insurance company to investigate further into the details and will follow the recommendations provided by his insurance company.”
Meanwhile, in a message posted on Reddit and reshared by Bravo and Cocktails on Instagram, Michelle accused Jax of running into her boyfriend’s car and taking off.
“Yesterday around [1:00 p.m.] my boyfriend was rear ended (pretty hard) by a Chevy Silverado while stopped at a red light at Laurel Canyon and Chandler. He got out of the car to see this man (he didn’t know who he was at that time) who was immediately erratic and belligerent, saying my boyfriend’s car was fine,” she revealed, noting that the man’s car sustained damages, including a misaligned trunk and two holes in the bumper.
“When they got in the car to pull over to the side of the road, he seemed to attempt to leave, but my boyfriend is a good/fast driver if needed and followed him. He eventually pulled into a gas station further down the road. He was still super rude and upset, and when asked to exchange info/insurance his response was ‘oh you wanna do this the hard way?’ and when asked if he didn’t have insurance his response was ‘I’m wearing $400 shoes, you think I don’t have insurance?’ followed by repetitively asking my boyfriend to ‘just call the cops,'” she continued.
According to Michelle, her boyfriend took pictures of everything, including Jax’s license plate, and called the police. However, no one showed up since there were no serious injuries, and he was ultimately told to file an online report.
After Jax took off, Michelle’s boyfriend was met by a man from the paparazzi, who informed him of Jax’s identity, and he later sought treatment for his injuries at an urgent care facility.
“My boyfriend went to urgent care as he has pretty bad whiplash and a sore neck and back,” Michelle wrote.
Then, after the man visited a police station, he was informed of the potential charges at play.
“He was told it’s a misdemeanor for the hit and run (a $400 fine at best) not a felony since he’s not more ‘seriously’ injured,” Michelle explained. “We know insurance won’t be an issue since we have all of his info [and] the photos, but we will be pursuing this as hard as we can to hold him accountable.”
