Janet Caperna recalled her past conversation with Michelle Saniei that led to the “racist Republican” claims. Janet also revealed how she approached Scheana Shay as a “fan” of Vanderpump Rules, and she addressed the accusation that she “stalked” Scheana to get on TV.
Last season on The Valley, Zack Wickham seemed to insinuate that Janet called Michelle a “racist Republican.” The story triggered a rift with Kristen Doute, who shared the rumor on camera.
On the Viall Files podcast, via Reality Tea, Janet addressed her and Michelle’s original talk, which led to the controversy.
“We ended up talking about a bunch of political stuff. She had one comment that rubbed me the wrong way,” said Janet, who seemingly shared this with Jasmine Goode, who then allegedly played telephone with it.
“By the time the telephone [game ended], it changed from ‘I’m worried she might support this bill that’s not great for the gay community’ to a ‘racist Republican,’” the star added. “I didn’t use any of those words.” Janet said she wishes she had explained this to Michelle as soon as it was mentioned in the group.
Later on, Janet addressed the claim that she manipulated her way into the friendship group through Scheana.
“I’ve always admitted that I was a Bravo fan before I met Scheana,” she said, via @vanderpodrecaps on Instagram. “[It’s] more like I liked Andy [Cohen] and Watch What Happens Live and a lot of the Housewives. I absolutely had seen Vanderpump Rules.”
As for how she and Scheana met, Janet said, “I went up to her and I was like, ‘You’re Scheana from Vanderpump. Let’s take a picture.’ But we ended up spending the entire day talking. We talked about what it’s like getting divorced in your 20s, which both of us had done, starting over, like all of that.”
She then reacted to the claim that she “stalked” Scheana and was “evil” and “conniving” as she tried to “maliciously work [my] way into fame.”
“That is annoying to see about myself because it’s not true,” she said. “There are a lot of people in our friend group who will be like, ‘Oh, Vanderpump Rules. I had no idea what that was. I just made friends with these people completely organically, and I had no idea that they’re famous.’ And that weirds me out. I’m like, ‘I know that you saw it, you’re lying.’”
