Jasmine Goode looked back on The Valley cast’s boat fight in Maui, during which Janet Caperna used the term “sexual assault” to describe Danny Booko‘s drunken behavior toward her and her fiancée, Melissa Marie, after Tuesday night’s episode.
Weeks after it was revealed that Danny, 41, had inappropriately touched the couple, Jasmine, 38, confirmed whether she believes she and Melissa were victims of a sexual assault as Zack Wickham, 36, and Kristen Doute, 42, shared their opinions on the matter, Janet Caperna, 35, admitted to being “harsh,” and Nia Booko, 35, suggested Janet was not a credible source of information.
“Being on the boat, first of all, I was super sea sick and I wish I wasn’t because I would’ve been popping off on everybody. I was so pissed,” Jasmine began on the July 8 episode of The Valley: After Show. “But I’m happy Melissa got in there and kind of spoke up for us.”
According to Jasmine, she and Melissa had already had a conversation with Danny about the incident and decided to “drop it and move forward.” However, that’s not to say that what occurred was not a sexual assault.
“[Janet]’s not wrong when she says it was SA because it kind of technically is,” she noted. “But it’s to a point now where me and Melissa have to take care of that. If that’s something I want to talk about, then I should still be talking about it. No one else.”
After Jasmine noted that she thought Janet brought up the incident because it had “happened with other people,” Zack admitted that he didn’t realize how “broad” the definition of a sexual assault was and confirmed he “would’ve used a different term.”
“It is so damaging to say things like that about someone, and as the wife of a lawyer, she should know that,” Kristen agreed.
Meanwhile, Janet, too, described her use of the term “sexual assault” as “harsh” before doubling down.
“I understand why that was, like, a tough pill for Nia and Danny to swallow. At the same time, when you put your hands on somebody’s butt without consent, that falls under the term that I used,” she reasoned. “As much as I’m like, ‘I probably should’ve used lighter words,’ … I would love for them to let me know which words they’re okay with using to describe the situation.
As for Janet’s claims that Danny was also inappropriate with a group of fans and had said he had a soft spot for girls in short skirts, she claimed to have learned the information from her husband, Jason Caperna, 41, and a friend named Jared.
“Danny was being inappropriate. Jared heard the comment, but Jason was pulling him away. He called Danny the next day and said, like, ‘You’re going to lose your family. You can’t keep doing stuff like this. Halloween should’ve been rock bottom,’” she recalled. “I’ve never lied when it comes to the situation, and I don’t think Danny or Nia can say that I have.”
“Get better at hiding it. Don’t do it in the middle of Jax’s bar in front of all of our friends,” she advised.
But in Jason’s own After Show segment, he confessed that he “didn’t hear [Danny] say that” about the other women, and Brittany Cartwright, 36, denied hearing it as well.
Looking back at the claims against him from Janet, Danny recalled noticing that Janet essentially told Jason to “go along with” what she was accusing him of, even though Jason had previously assured him that he’d done nothing wrong.
As he explained, “I got a call from Jason and he said, verbatim, ‘Hey man, you did nothing wrong. Nothing happened, but last night there were some fans that wanted to take pictures with you. You seem like you were enjoying taking the pictures. And I just think we need to be a little careful in those situations.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, I remember doing that, but I appreciate it, looking out for me, and I would have done the same for you.'”
“I’ve gone above and beyond to take ownership and make things right to the best of my ability with the incident and those that I had hurt. So that’s all I can do,” he continued. “[So] for [Janet] to start throwing those words around like she did, so just like, nonchalant and blatantly, it was just like, ‘Alright, there’s no coming back from this.’”
Also on the After Show, Nia shared her thoughts on the matter, wondering why Janet involved herself in something she wasn’t a part of.
“I don’t believe anything she says anymore because that statement [about Danny liking girls in short skirts] I have heard three or four different ways from her mouth,” she stated. “I love my husband. He’s an incredible man. It’s so disheartening that someone would say something like that.”
