Three Moves Broncos Could Make to Help Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos are already ahead of schedule with the development of quarterback Bo Nix and the Broncos playoff contenders. The next step is to develop Nix further and potentially ascend him to become a top-ten passer.

Three Moves Broncos Could Make to Help Bo Nix

One of the biggest steps is to go all-in on Hall of Fame talent at wide receiver. Two of the best players available through trade are San Francisco 49ers Deebo Samuel and Los Angeles Rams’ Cooper Kupp.

Both players are in their prime and are some of the most dynamic players in the league. Injuries, however, have limited their production in the past few seasons, and both teams are suffocating from cap space.

The risk and the price are high (likely a first-round pick), but so is the reward to give the win-now Broncos an explosive target for Nix.

The next step is to give Nix a more stable offensive line and a reliable number two wide receiver through the 2025 NFL Draft. Denver could use more help in the interior offensive line, especially for the running game in the red zone. The Broncos had the 16th-ranked rushing offense last season but only had 12 rushing touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Broncos could use the No. 20 overall pick to get a reliable number two receiver. Players like Missouri’s Luther Burden III or Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka could be available for the Broncos to draft and develop. This move would keep Courtland Sutton a leader of the offense.

Finally, one of the biggest steps the Broncos could take to help Nix is to get a ready-now tight end. This is an area that might excite head coach Sean Payton the most. Payton likes to utilize a tight end to be a short-to-mid-range target, become a big target in the red zone, and create efficient run blocks. They would be a perfect pass-catcher for Nix in play-action plays. Jeremy Shockey and Jimmy Graham are the ideal players Payton also coached.

Penn State’s Tyler Warren is the perfect tight-end prospect due to his size, catchability, excellent route-running ability, and blocking efficiency. That means he will not likely be around No. 20 for the Broncos to be there for the steal.

Denver could go for the next best options in Michigan’s Colston Loveland in round one or pick Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr. or LSU’s Mason Taylor later in the draft. Loveland, however, is another player who can be a day-one starter. It is rare for a draft to be rich with pro-bowl-caliber tight ends.
