TJ Hockenson is usually one of the first tight ends taken in fantasy football drafts. After an ACL and MCL tear, though, he was forced to miss much of last season. When he returned, the Iowa alum wasn’t much of a factor, especially in terms of fantasy football. Is it too early to give up on TJ Hockenson, though?
TJ Hockenson 2024 Stats and Fantasy Production
Of course, it’s hard to take Hockenson’s production from last year into account since he was injured for half of it. He did have some decent games when he returned, though, which is impressive, seeing as he never saw the endzone last season. That being said, he still got over 100 yards against Chicago of all defenses, as well as a decent 72-yard game against Jacksonville.
TJ Hockenson did see a big drop in targets, which led to his lower stats overall. He had 127 targets in 2023 to 62 targets. That’s a big drop off, considering Hockenson should probably be targeted around 10 times a game normally in 2024.
TJ Hockenson 2025 Fantasy Outlook

Given his lack of production last season, some fantasy football players may not be as high on Hockenson’s outlook. There is no reason to believe he can’t have a bounce-back year, though. The way that tight ends are looking this year is that there is a clear top three (Brock Bowers, Trey McBride, and George Kittle). None of the other tight ends are projected to have the same production, but Hockenson could be slotted right in that second tier below those guys.
As of now, Hockenson’s ADP is sixth among tight ends. The nice thing about that position, though, is that they can fall down the draft board unless they’re a part of that coveted top three. Overall, Hockenson’s ADP is 65th overall, so players who lose out on Bowers, McBride, or Kittle can wait until around the seventh round to pick up Hockenson and receive great value at tight end for a later pick.
