There's a reason certain quarterbacks remain at the top of the NFL game for so many years. Aside from being physically talented and working harder than many others, the very best have taken particularly well to developmental coaching. That's especially true in today's current climate, as signal-callers like Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen were considered very raw prospects coming out of college.
Despite that, the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, respectively, took chances on them. And it has paid off tenfold. Both Mahomes and Allen have jaw-dropping arm strength, but it's their ability to create out of structure that has made them so hard to defend. It's not just their scrambling ability, either. The way they change their throwing platform is unrivaled. But there's an aspect to it that fans may not have noticed before, and Tom Brady has come out to explain it.

Tom Brady goes in-depth on Patrick Mahomes' "sidearm throw"
Thank you for watching
While doing some teaching during drills in a recent video, Brady detailed the "sidearm throws" that are so prevalent with Mahomes, Allen, Joe Burrow, Aaron Rodgers and some other QBs. In reality, as Brady explains, it's not truly a sidearm throw.
The top quarterbacks' ability to contort their body in order to keep their arm angle at 90 degrees is what allows them to deliver accurate passes with velocity despite being in an awkward position. It's a great nugget of information from Brady, who didn't have to use that type of throw too much throughout his career.
Despite being a traditional, upright pocket-passer during his playing days, Brady has noticed new things in current players. He also had a word of caution for young quarterbacks who are still in college or just coming out. He points out that a lot of them are using wasted energy with throws by bending in the wrong direction.
