If only someone would find a way to show that they are the better player than the other.
The CB2 battle at training camp for the Philadelphia Eagles is becoming a crapshoot between Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo. Neither guy has been able to separate themselves over the last two weeks at camp.
Nothing changed in the Eagles' latest practice as Bleeding Green Nation team reporter Brandon Lee Gowton shared his observations of how the position battle went on Friday.
"Kelee Ringo was first up with the first-team defense on Friday. That makes four days when Adoree’ Jackson has been up first and three days for Ringo. I wrote down Ringo’s name in my notes for: 1) being called for pass interference while covering Dotson and 2) allowing Elijah Cooks to score a touchdown on a quick slant in front of him. I wrote Jackson’s name in my notes for: breaking up a short Hurts pass to Barkley. Still not seeing major separation between Jackson and Ringo. Would be good to get both of them playing time in preseason games."
This is a tale of the tape of two individuals who are on two different career paths. They are even different in body structure that makes it hard to say which one is better.
Jackson is the former first-round veteran who has played eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants. While he has 97 games and 82 starts under his belt, he has just four interceptions and never has been to a Pro Bowl.
Ringo's career began in 2023 as a fourth-round pick for the Eagles. He has played in all 34 possible games, but has limited starting experience with only five.
The size difference is a key factor, as Ringo boasts a staggering 6-foot-2, 207-pound frame, while Jackson stands at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds. We are talking about one guy who can handle the size of big wide receivers compared to a quicker guy.
During training camp, the two have nearly gone back and forth on who the first-team corner is, and each has had their moments. Neither has been consistent enough to steal the job.
It does feel as though Jackson has a more challenging hill to climb as defensive coordinator Vic Fangio already admitted that general manager Howie Roseman is the one who picked Jackson to be signed. Fangio even bluntly challenged Jackson to step up after he departed from Tennessee and New York.
Only preseason will be able to help start separating the two from each other. Eagles fans are nowhere close to knowing how this will end.
