Tyler Badie injury: Pivotal update emerges on Broncos RB after collapsing during Jets game

Denver Broncos running back Tyler Badie is expected to be okay after suffering a back injury during the game against the New York Jets. According to Pro Football Talk, Badie has movement in all extremities after being immobilized and leaving the field on a stretcher.

Badie was seen collapsing on the sideline after taking a hit to the lower back area from Jets linebacker Quincy Williams. He walked off the field on his own power before collapsing on the sideline. Broncos head coach Sean Payton had no update on Badie after the game, and it’s not clear if Badie returned to Denver with the team.

Badie only had one carry before leaving Sunday’s game. Javonte Williams said running backs coach Lou Ayeni told the group Badie “would be alright, but we know Tyler is a fighter, I just saw him on the ground and went to see how he was.”

Before Sunday’s game, Badie registered 86 yards and 10 carries in two games. He has been with the team since the end of the 2022 season after being selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Before the 2024 season, Badie spent most of his time on the practice squad. He did play in one game during the 2022 season and caught one touchdown pass from Russell Wilson.

“I was just grateful,” Badie said last week, per the Broncos’ official website. “All the work I put in, I was just grateful for the opportunity. The biggest thing is I just want to win games and just help the team win. That’s what I’m here to do.”

“He’s been really decisive,” Payton said. “He’s had some big runs for us. He’s smart. He knows the system. He’s good in the passing game. He brings a lot.”

Badie played college football at Missouri and was named to the All-SEC First Team and the All-America Second Team in 2021. The New Orleans native rushed for 1,604 yards and 14 touchdowns that year.
