Matt and Rachael met during Season 25 of The Bachelor. He was reluctant to propose, but they left the show in a relationship. They were together for months before it became public knowledge. But while Matt and Rachael were living in their romantic bubble, fans dug up some shocking information from her past. Photos hit the internet of Rachael attending an antebellum party in college. The United States was in the middle of a racial reckoning when the photos were made public. Fans demanded Matt dump Rachael and cut all ties.

He revealed during the After The Final Rose special that the pressure caused them to break up. However, they reconciled shortly afterward. They dated for four years, and were constantly faced with questions about getting engaged. Matt hinted several times that he planned to propose, but never did. The relationship allegedly came crashing down during a trip to Japan when they got in a silly argument over food.

Rachael was on her way to the airport to fly home when she received messages asking what was going on. That’s how she found out that Matt James had posted about their breakup on Instagram. Fans are still puzzled over the breakup post. In a new interview, his best friend, Tyler Cameron, shared his thoughts on the breakup and how Matt is doing now. Keep reading for all the details.

Tyler Cameron Close To Proposing To Girlfriend?

Tyler Cameron knows a thing or two about public breakups. He was famously dumped on national TV by Hannah Brown during her Bachelorette season. After weeks of falling in love with Hannah, Tyler was ready to pop the question. But sadly, Hannah Brown turned him down because she was in love with another contestant. Her relationship with Jed Wyatt didn’t last. While Hannah and Tyler tried to reconnect, it just wasn’t right.

She’s since moved on and will marry Adam Woolard this summer. Tyler Cameron previously said he wouldn’t attend the wedding. However, he’s happily in a relationship of his own. He’s been dating Tate Madden for a few years now. They went public with their relationship last year. They met while filming his Amazon renovation series, Going Home With Tyler Cameron.

He recently hinted that he thinks Tate is the one. But will he actually propose or lead her on like Matt did to Rachael?

He Addresses Matt’s ‘Weird’ Breakup Post

Tyler Cameron and Matt James met in college as students at Wake Forest University. They both played football for the elite school. As longtime friends, Tyler always has Matt’s back. He even appeared on The Bachelor to offer advice.

However, he’s not afraid to admit when Matt is wrong or has made a mistake. Tyler Cameron and Tate Madden recently appeared on Nick Viall’s podcast. Tyler shared his thoughts on the post Matt made in January announcing his split from Rachael.

Tyler revealed that he tried to reach out to Matt after the announcement, but never heard back. However, he thinks the breakup was the best thing for Rachael and Matt. “They both needed to be broken up and they needed to go their separate ways and they needed to figure it out at the end of the day,” Tyler said.

However, he thinks the breakup post was “weird.” Tyler added, “I think the breakup post, he regrets it. It was weird and it transcended my beliefs.” The two don’t seem to be as close as they used to be when they were roommates in NYC. Tyler has since moved back home to Florida.
