Tyreek Hill's secret longing: Analyst says the Dolphins' WR wants to play with Patrick Mahomes again | Marca

A few days ago, Tyreek Hill set off alarm bells for media and fans with a post on X (formerly Twitter) that hinted at his departure from the Dolphins. Although Hill backtracked, saying he wants to stay in Miami, analysts like Devin McCourty believe that, deep down, Hill is thinking about a reunion with Patrick Mahomes.

Hill has had two good seasons with the Dolphins. In 2022, he caught 119 passes for 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2023, he contributed 1,799 yards on 119 catches, 13 in the end zone. Hill started the 2024 season a bit slow, with just 17 catches, 217 yards, and a touchdown in four games, but that can improve at any time.

Hill's arrival changed the face of the team. The receiver was a key piece for the Dolphins to reach the postseason in 2022 and 2023 after a five-year absence. However, Hill has a thorn in his side because while his team was eliminated in the wild-card round both years, his former Kansas City Chiefs teammates won two Super Bowls in that same span.

The receiver has tried to downplay it in his statements. He has even congratulated the Chiefs for their two championship rings. However, rumors constantly place him as a candidate to return to his former team, and McCourty believes that, deep down, Hill has considered that possibility.

Does Hill want to return to Kansas City?

Hill has reiterated on several occasions that he is comfortable with his team, saying he "wants to be part" of Miami. McCourty even recalled that the West Alabama graduate grew up in Miami and likes to be around his family and friends. However, he also speculated that Hill might be considering taking a plane back to Kansas City.

In an analysis for Sunday Night Football on NFL on NBC, McCourty explained, "I think also in the back of his mind [Tyreek Hill] is like: 'I mean go play with Patrick Mahomes again. [That] team won the last two championships. Like I wouldn't mind going there' and I think that's true and to me, that's okay as a player."

McCourty acknowledged that Hill has been able to handle the constant questions about it. The former New England Patriots cornerback noted that Hill "has done a really good job of coming in this league, maturing the business of the NFL. His answers were exactly what any player should do and say in that situation."

Could Tyreek leave Miami?

The injuries that hit the Chiefs' receiver room, which lost Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice at the start of the season, opened the door for Hill's return.

Furthermore, the receiver has given rise to speculation with tweets like the one he posted a few days ago by saying, "woke up to trade news exciting." The comment caused a frenzy around Hill's departure from the team and his possible destinations.

At the top of the list, as expected, are the Chiefs. However, Hill himself clarified the situation in the following days, reiterating his commitment to the Dolphins"We got a beautiful team here, and I want to be a part of it. You know, got a great situation here. My family loves it."

The Dolphins have remained silent on Hill's comment and the Chiefs are already moving their pieces to cover the absences. Although at this point in the season, anything is still possible, only time will tell if fans will see Hill in red and white again.
