Tyson Fury enters the ring for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, inset Turki Alalshikh at an event

Heavyweight boxing great Tyson Fury might be on the verge of reversing his retirement after Turki Alalshikh’s announcement.

Boxing’s heavyweight division isn’t the same without the ‘Gypsy King’ Tyson Fury. Just months after announcing his retirement, speculation has run rampant regarding a potential Fury comeback.

Fury hasn’t fought since a heavyweight title rematch loss to Oleksandr Usyk last December. He lost back-to-back fights to Usyk for the first defeats of Fury’s professional career, after he was unbeaten through his first 35 professional outings.

Fury has been known to change his mind on hanging up the gloves throughout his legendary career. Just about seven months since the Usyk rematch, Fury might be on the verge of another retirement reversal.

Turki Alalshikh assures boxing fans that Tyson Fury has ‘promised’ 2026 return

After the Usyk fights, many fans and analysts called for Fury to finally secure a heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua in what would be one of the biggest fights in UK boxing history. But after up-and-down fight talks, the matchup never came to fruition, and Fury remained firm in his retirement.

During Fury’s hiatus, Riyadh Season has continued to bring new life into boxing with big-name fights featuring Canelo Alvarez, Terence Crawford, and Dmitry Bivol.

In a recent post to X, Turki Alalshikh shook up the boxing world with a surprising announcement.

“The ‘Gypsy King’ will be back!” Alalshikh declared.

“I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026. We have a rabbit to hunt!”

As of this writing, Fury hasn’t publicly responded to Alalshikh’s remarks.

Alalshikh’s comments come just hours after Fury spoke with Seconds Out and other media about the state of his retirement. Fury stated he doesn’t intend to return to the ring, despite links to the Joshua fight.

An announcement regarding Fury’s potential boxing comeback could be made official in the coming months.

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua might come to fruition after Turki Alalshikh’s announcement

After Alalshikh’s recent remarks, the Fury vs. Joshua fight might become a reality. Joshua hasn’t fought since a heavyweight title loss to Daniel Dubois last summer.

A potential rematch against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou could also be in the works if Fury opts to return to the ring. Ngannou recently admitted that Fury punched him the hardest he’d been hit in his career.

Ngannou recently asserted that his next fight will take place in the boxing ring, despite remaining under contract with the PFL. Ngannou returned to MMA last year and defeated Renan Ferreira by first-round TKO.

Fury defeated Ngannou by split decision in October 2023 in a major scare for the UK star. Ngannou dropped Fury during the fight and many viewers scored the bout in the former UFC champ’s favor.
