Underrated Buccaneers Starter Training With Trio of NFL Legends This Week

Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton is the lone member of the Bucs at the popular NFL summer camp, “Tight End University,” hosted by current and former legends of the position: Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen.

33rd Team NFL insider Ari Meirov shared the full 2025 TEU roster on June 23, and Otton was the only Buccaneers tight end on it.

Tight End University — founded by George Kittle, Travis Kelce, and Greg Olsen — is back for its fifth year this week.

Here’s the full list of tight ends attending the event:

While these NFL positional camps are by no means mandatory, they do provide an excellent opportunity for players to hone their craft, and Otton will surely pick up some pointers from Kelce, Kittle, Olsen and all the other great tight ends in attendance.

Otton is coming off a career season in 2024, in which he proved that he can be a top offensive option if called upon.

With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin both sidelined for various amounts of time last year, Otton stepped up in a big way, recording 59 catches for 600 yards and 4 touchdowns in just 14 starts. The increase in target share raised Otton’s yards per game average from the mid-20s in his first two seasons to 42.9 receiving yards per game in 2024.

Considering how stacked their offense is at wide receiver and running back in 2025, the hope is that the Buccaneers aren’t relying on Otton as much this season. But if quarterback Baker Mayfield ever does need his No. 1 tight end, it’s nice to know that strong chemistry has already been established.

How Will Buccaneers Tight End Room Shake Out Behind Cade Otton in 2025?

Otton has solidified himself as a reliable NFL starter at tight end, but there are some questions behind him as this Buccaneers depth chart takes shape.

There was a report this spring that second-year draft pick Devin Culp may have already supplanted veteran Ko Kieft for the TE3 role, with Payne Durham likely remaining as the main TE2 due to his blocking prowess. But it’s unclear how often new offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard will even utilize two-TE sets.

Including Otton and the three names above, the Bucs had steadily drafted tight ends every offseason up until 2025. Perhaps, the sudden break in this trend is a sign that general manager Jason Licht believes Tampa Bay has found their long-term answer in Otton.

Travis Kelce, George Kittle & Greg Olsen Founded Tight End University to ‘Bring the TE Community Together’ in 2021

According to their official website, Tight End University was first founded in 2021 by the combined efforts of Kelce, Kittle and Olsen.

“Tight End University was created to bring the Tight End community together for an immersive three-day program,” the site reads. “Over the course of the summit, attendees are able to bond, collaborate with, and learn amongst their peers while participating in a variety of activities, including film study, on-field drills, recovery, rehabilitation, and more.”

“In addition to current players, TEU also features several retired legends who provide attendees with the invaluable opportunity to learn from some of the best to ever play the game,” it continues.

Adding: “Beyond supporting our athletes, TEU is also driven to give back to the community through a variety of charitable initiatives. Thanks to the help of our sponsors, we are able to help raise money for various organizations an
