After starring in the “Teen Mom” franchise for several years, Vee Rivera decided to step away from reality television. Instead, she has focused on her successful podcasting and social media career.
In an exclusive interview with EntertainmentNOW, Rivera shared her next career steps. Rivera revealed she has aspirations to eventually be a television host.
“I think it’s just so fun to be able to connect with people. And hosting just looks like another amazing way to do that. And just to talk to people in the industry as well,” said Rivera to EntertainmentNOW.
In addition, Rivera shared she will be filming a series called “Chisme Corner,” which will have a “talk show vibe,” for her Patreon subscribers. She also said she will be uploading long-form beauty videos on her Patreon.
“I’m trying to bring back like the OG YouTube makeup videos. I feel like we don’t have long form videos anymore. And a part of me really wants to start doing that. So that will be on Patreon for now. But those are the plans for ‘Chisme Corner.’ So it’ll be launching in 2025,” said Rivera.
In addition, Rivera, who shares a daughter named Vivi with her husband Jo Rivera, let fans know she will not be returning to reality television.
“I feel like reality TV just is not for me. I also feel like I’m pretty boring. Like I’m just not reality TV made — I think they love drama. The most drama I have is, like, trying not to spend $300 at Target,” quipped Rivera.
Vee Rivera Gave Advice to Fans
During her exclusive interview with EntertainmentNOW, Rivera shared her “best advice” for those interested in following her footsteps and establishing a career in podcasting and social media.
“My best advice is to just be consistent and to step out of your own comfort zone and to get out of your head, number one. Because I think a lot of it is like we talk ourselves out of doing things that we know we are good at. Or that we want to do and can be successful at,” shared Rivera.
She said that she believed some people think social media is oversaturated.
“Sometimes you might feel like the industry is like — there’s, too many people. So how am I going to stand out and things like that?” said Rivera. “But it’s like, to me, I feel like everyone has something to offer. And there’s hundreds of 1000s of content creators — even if they’re doing the same thing, like they still have their following. Like people like you for you. So it’s like, be authentic to yourself and what you want to put out there.”
Rivera also shared how she has been able to go through career reinvention and evolve in the public while staying true to herself. She said she prefers to have some privacy, despite being in the public eye. She explained she believes “it is important to have that healthy boundary with your following.”
“I put out the content that I like. I do beauty, I do life stuff. But I try not to get too much into my personal life. Where if anything could affect my kids or something, I don’t want to touch that,” said Rivera.
When reflecting on the proudest moment of her career, Rivera said that she is pleased she has been able to be a successful podcaster.
“I would say just being able to start podcasting and realizing like, ‘Wow, you have people out there that, really want to hear you. And like, listen to what you have to say.’ I think that was a really pivotal moment. And just winning podcasting awards and things like that, and realizing like, ‘Wow, people really like you.’ Because you get imposter syndrome,” said Rivera.
While speaking to EntertainmentNOW, Rivera discussed her podcast “Vibin’ & Kinda Thrivin’,” co-hosted by Alessandra Gonzalez. She said her favorite part about recording the podcast has been creating “this cute little community” of strong women. She also noted that she and Gonzalez often have candid, “raw” conversations about mental health, motherhood, and postpartum. Rivera explained that she felt it is important to do so because she was “so disconnected from [her] family and [her] village” when she moved from New Jersey to Delaware during her pregnancy with Vivi.
“In podcasting and opening up about all these things, I realized that I wasn’t [alone]. So that was like my main goal,” said Rivera. “So to know me and Alessandra have been doing that and opening these doors to where women can talk about these things and not feel alone, I think that’s like the most important thing to us.”
As fans are aware, Rivera has been married to Jo Rivera, who shares a 15-year-old son named Isaac with his ex-girlfriend, Kailyn Lowry, for six years. Rivera shared she believed she and her husband have been able to have a successful relationship because of healthy communication and compromise. She also said she believed individuals should know there are “peaks and valleys” in every marriage and not to give up during difficult periods.
“You’re going to have good years, you’re going to have bad years. But like I said, that doesn’t define your relationship, and it can only really make you stronger,” said Rivera.
Rivera also said she has enjoyed growing alongside her husband over the past 13 years of their relationship.
“We have so many different versions of each other, and I love that we get to experience that,” said Rivera.
