During Season 10, Episode 7 of Southern Charm, the group went after Jarrett "JT" Thomas for his proclivity to share drama that has nothing to do with him. After listening to the conversation, his at-the-time good friend Venita Aspen shared her thoughts on the situation in a sweet confessional.
“I can see beyond the person he puts on in front of this group," she said. "It’s like, I get Jarrett and everyone else gets JT. JT has to be the big man in the room, but Jarrett is soft and tender and quiet and doesn’t have to put on in front of me. He’s like, ‘This is who I am.’”
What did Jarrett "JT" Thomas do to make the Southern Charm cast mad?
The drama all started when JT brought up Gaston Rojas's alleged infidelity while talking to his girlfriend, Taylor Ann Green. The problem wasn't helped by the fact that he brought an ex — Salley Carson — into the conversation ... when she was also in the room.
"I don’t know if being an arbiter of truth makes you a bad person. But I do care about Taylor, her well being, her future. I’m coming at this with no agenda for myself, but only to make sure that as she proceeds with her own decision making, she has the information," JT explained in a confessional.
But not everyone saw it the same way.
“JT! This is everyone’s problem with you. You say stuff when it has nothing to do with you and it has no purpose,” Craig Conover said.
Eventually, the conversation got to a place where it seemed like everyone was yelling. Taylor left, feeling upset.
Why Venita comforted JT on Southern Charm
After the full group blowout, JT left his event space to get some air and Venita followed him.
“I’ve had enough. I’m not going to sit in my own spot, in my own space, knowing my truth. Knowing my heart. Knowing that I’m a good man. And be talked to like this from Craig. I’m a man of honor. I’m always gonna be like that. And I’ll stand up to bullies and mean girls," he told Venita.
Luckily, she was able to kindly share another perspective, telling JT, “To Craig's point, you supposedly had this good fishing trip and now his feelings are hurt because you’re doing something you said you weren’t gonna do.”
“Be real? I was real. And that bothers him,” JT responded. “That doesn’t bother you, but it bothers some people in this friend group.”
While he couldn't say he'd apologize if Taylor came back, he did eventually hear Venita out — and reminded her that he loves her no matter what happens in the group.
“The level of stress you provide me is unacceptable,” Venita joked.
Oh, and there's another special JT and Venita moment to mention. Earlier, while everyone fought, she also leaned over to Leva Bonaparte to say that he looked “kind of yummy” in his T-shirt.
