Jarrett "JT" Thomas is focused on "building wealth" in Charleston with his real estate ventures. The Southern Charm-er not only owns several properties in the Holy City, but just launched a podcast where he continues to give insight into his thriving career.
JT also took to Instagram in February, where he revealed that he was going to be transparent with his followers about his career, his finances, and how they can learn from him.
"I'm going to give more information about building wealth, maintaining wealth, as I have 17 years of experience doing that," he explained in the video. "So why not arm the HI, human intelligence, whoever cares or could benefit from hearing my story."
JT is sharing different parts of his story on his brand new podcast, JTea & Friends. The real estate professional uploads these episodes to his YouTube channel, with him speaking with his friends and recalling different stories about his life. In the debut episode, JT spoke with his personal stylist about how his look has evolved on Southern Charm Seasons 9 and 10.
And in the second episode, JT spoke with two of his friends, a wealth management advisor and real estate investor, about business. "I think, the thing about business, you can be addicted to a small amount of income, that takes up your time," JT explained in a clip from the episode, posted to his Instagram account.
JT's podcast comes after he launched a brand new event space, The Inns Clubhouse, in Charleston in January 2024. This space, according to The Inns website, is "downtown Charleston's premier events space" which offer an "unrivaled setting" for gatherings.
JT took to his Instagram Story at the time of launching the space, where he revealed that it was a long time coming.
"After 4 years of just...the most frustration I've prob ever felt in my adult life in business..finally..relief..a new business is born," he captioned a photo of himself holding a Certification of Occupancy. "The private event space to compliment the Airbnb collection in DT Charleston. The relief I felt today is just..."
JT is also the owner of several residential properties in downtown Charleston, which is collectively known as The Inns. The Inns are comprised of eight different properties, which are all within walking distance of one another, and can occupy up to 120 people across all of the properties.
JT shared more about the company during Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 4. "Five or six years ago, me and two other business partners started buying all these historic properties in this one neighborhood for Airbnb, and we named this collection The Inns."
During a January 2024 episode of the podcast, Side Piece with Melissa Pfeister, JT opened up about his life, working in the Charleston real estate market.
"I don't have a wife or kids, so my businesses are my babies," he noted.
The Virginia native recalled on the podcast that he worked at a bank branch during the early days of his career, making cold calls and taking as many meetings as possible, before building his own wealth management practice.
"I'm not a trust-fund guy," he explained. "I wish to a certain extent I was because it would've made my life a lot easier. At the same time, I feel like not having a trust fund and starting from scratch out of college, it kept me from getting robbed of the feeling of doing it myself and having that confidence that comes from being hardworking."
But JT owes a lot of his current real estate career to his mom, he explained in Southern Charm Season 9, Episode 3. "My mom's a top interior designer in the D.C. area. She renovates properties," he said. "She showed me the ropes, and now I invest in real estate, I develop real estate, I renovate real estate."
Although JT is clearly confident is his career these days, there is one recent decision he appears to regret. During Part 1 of the Southern Charm Season 10 reunion, Andy Cohen called out JT for briefly quitting the show ahead of the taping.
"Yeah, my inner bitch, um, had a moment," JT explained. "I was able to successfully, today, tell it to...quiet down. I'm sorry."
