Despite giving up a 3-1 third period lead, Team Canada found a way to win its opening match against Sweden in the opening game of the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Toronto Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner tore through the Swedish defense on a transition play and ripped the puck past goalie Filip Gustavsson for the 4-3 winner just over a minute into the extra period.
Canada captain Sidney Crosby notched three assists and earned the game's No. 1 star honors.
Had the Canadians held on for the regulation win, they would've earned three points in the tournament standings. Instead, they get just two while Sweden stole a single point for its efforts.
The two teams at the top of the table after round-robin play will compete for the championship on Feb. 20.
Team USA and Finland will play Thursday at 8 p.m. ET to close out the first cycle of the round-robin portion of the tournament.
