1. He was the Rangers first selection of the 2025 NHL Draft, at 43rd overall (Round 2, Pick 11). Spence was projected to be a late first round pick.

2. He is committed to the University of Michigan for the 2025-26 season. One of the best collegiate programs in the nation.

3. At 6’1”, 200 pounds, Spence is a physical two-way forward. Not only will he make you pay along the boards, but on the scoresheet as well.

4. His game is well suited for today’s NHL. From his skating and physicality to the way he engages and makes a difference in all three zones.

5. “Off the ice, I would be a dog, and, on the ice, I would be a hyena. They’re both loyal and have fun on their own, but they hunt as a group. It’s kind of like hockey where you have to be able to do things on your own but also collaborate with  your teammates.” Spence during a pre-draft TSN interview.

6. He is a good person. Spence volunteers with Hockey Equality, an organization that seeks to grow the sport by lowering barriers that impact BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color), founded by retired NHLer Anthony Stewart.
