The Minnesota Wild recalled defenseman Cameron Crotty from the Iowa Wild on Tuesday under emergency conditions amid the team's never-ending injury carousel.
The injury addition was defenseman Declan Chisholm exiting Monday night's game against the Dallas Stars early with an undisclosed injury. It's not immediately clear the severity of the injury to Chisholm, who has 12 points (2 goals, 10 assists) in 61 games for the Wild this season, but it's yet another blow to an injury-riddled Wild team.
It's also unclear whether defenseman Jonas Brodin, who's day to day with a lower-body injury, will return for Tuesday night's game against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Brodin sat out Monday after making his return from the lower-body injury for the first time in nearly a month in Saturday's victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Crotty gives the Wild some needed insurance with the plethora of injuries along the blue line.
Crotty, who signed with the Wild on a two-way contract this summer, has not skated in a game for Minnesota this season but has eight assists in 56 games in Iowa. The 2017 third-round draft pick made his NHL debut last season for the Arizona Coyotes.
Defenseman David Jiricek has been previously called up and has played six games for the Wild this season, but he's also currently injured. According to The Athletic's Michael Russo, he got hurt in his first game back in Iowa and will be out some time.
The Wild take on the Knights at 7 p.m. at the X in St. Paul, Minn., Tuesday night.
